Dorie Greenspan has had the pleasure and privilege of working with many well known chefs, including the infamous Julia Child, even co-authoring a cookbook with her. She has written nine of her own successful cookbooks, including Baking From My Home to Yours, which spawned a sizable following of food bloggers who bake and compare her recipes each week. Her culinary creations and love of French pastries shines through in her books and her award winning blog.
However, contrary to what you might think, Dorie Greenspan wasn't born with a wooden spoon in her hand. In fact, she didn't even start cooking until she was newly married!

I had the pleasure of speaking with Dorie Greenspan one wonderful spring morning. You see, I'm what's known as a "TWD Baker". I have a food blog and bake along with over 200 others each week as we all make the same chosen dessert from Dorie's book, Baking From My Home to Yours. The longer I participate, the more I learn about my baking abilities and the deeper my respect for Dorie grows. I personally wanted to interview Dorie because I could tell from reading the opening of each recipe that she wasn't one of those snooty pastry chefs, but rather someone just like me... a mom, a wife, and someone who loves to bake.

The Interview
FC: Thank you for joining us today Dorie, it's a pleasure to have you with us. First, we'd love to hear about your family. Are you married, and do you have any children?
DG: I've been married forever! I met my husband, Michael, when I was 16 years old and we were married when I was a junior in college. We have one fabulous, terrific, adorable son, Joshua, who's been called "The Kid" since before he was born.
FC: Would you say that your husband and son had an influence over any of the recipes you've created and shared?
DG: Michael and Joshua are my first and most critical tasters. They both have very good palates and neither one of them is timid about telling me what he thinks, so it's fair to say that almost all of my recipes have been influenced by them.
FC: It's often said that there are bakers and there are cooks. It's obvious you are a fabulous baker, but do you enjoy cooking as well?
DG: It's funny, I always say that the world is divided into housekeepers and cooks, and that the cooks' contingent is further divided into cooks and bakers. While I'm best known for my work on the sweet side of the kitchen, I love cooking, I cook all the time for my family and friends. Most people who know my cooking, would call me adventurous; my husband would call me enthusiastic, but that would be code for messy and he'd know, because he's the dishwasher in the family.
Next question:Might we ever expect to see a cookbook from you that doesn't involve baking, but rather cooking?
