This beautiful heart shaped wreath,
fashioned from dried lemon leaves and freeze-dried white English roses, makes
a spectacular accent for a special event, such as a wedding or an anniversary.
You will need:
16-diameter crimped wire wreath ring
Spanish moss (optional)
24-gauge floral wire
Large bunch of lemon leaves, cut into 6" lengths
Moss green spray paint
6 stems of dried ivy
Metallic gold spray paint
2 yds of 1½"-wide white French wired ribbon with gold edges
28 stems of freeze-dried white English roses or white silk roses
9 bunches of deep pink heather cut into 8" to 10" lengths
Preserved plumosa fern, cut into 8" to 10" lengths
10 stems of dried white baby's breath, cut into 5" to 6" lengths
You will also need tape measure or ruler; scissors; glue gun
Bend the crimped wire wreath ring into a heart shape. If desired, wrap Spanish
moss around the heart-shaped wreath to cover; wrap the floral wire around
the wreath to secure the moss.
Starting at the top center, attach lavers of Iemon leaves to the heart shaped
wreath: Working with four stems of Iemon leaves at a time, use floral wire
to attach lemon leaves to the wreath until the entire wreath is covered.
Lay the covered wreath flat in a dark, dry place, such as an attic, and let
the lemon leaves dry for about one week. When the leaves are completely dry,
spray them with the moss green spray paint; let dry.
Spray the dried ivy with metallic gold spray paint; let dry five minutes.
Set aside.
Use the white French wired ribbon to make a 10-loop bow with 14"-long streamers.
Glue the bow to the top center of the wreath. Cut the ends of the streamers
on the diagonal.
Use the photo as a guide to glue the flowers and remaining greenery to the
wreath: Glue clusters of three or four freeze-dried white English roses around
the front of the wreath. Glue eight bunches of deep pink heather between
the roses with the heather tips pointing outward; glue one bunch of heather
beneath the bow with the heather tips pointing down. Glue the plumosa fern
and the baby's breath around the wreath, spacing them evenly.
Cut the spray-painted ivy into 4" to 10" lengths. Glue the ivy evenly around
the wreath; glue a 10" length beneath the bow (photo).
Use the floral wire to make a loop for hanging; attach the loop to the back
of the wreath at the top center.
