This lovely little damsel is looking for romance. Dressed in red and race, with a pretty hat to boot, she makes a wonderful accent to your home.

You will need:

1- 2 1/4" diameter clay pot
straw hat 4" brim
12" of 1/4"-1/2" wide sheer maroon ribbon with gold accent
12" of 1/2"-3/4" wide maroon gingham ribbon
heart cut from paper doily
small maroon silk rose
tan nubby yarn
acrylic paints in flesh, maroon, and pink
Black Sharpie fine or medium point marker
scissors
Tacky Glue
Hot glue gun

If you make this project we'd love to see it! Just send your photos and comments to the editor and it may get published on this page!

What you do:

Place newspaper down on work surface. Turn clay pot over and glue wooden ball to bottom of pot. When glue is dry, use large paint brush to paint the entire wooden ball with flesh colored paint. You may paint the body of the pot any color of your choice, in our project we did not paint the pot. Hold pot in your hand and carefully paint the outer rim of the pot maroon. Let all dry and apply a second coat.

Body
Cut nubby yarn into strands of approximately 3 inches. Hot glue strands of nubby yarn onto head. Do not cut hair yet! Using tacky glue, position hat on top of hair, allow to dry. Trim nubby yarn to create bangs and shoulder length hair (see photo).

Hat
Spread tacky glue around the rim of the hat. Using the gingham ribbon first, tie a simple bow around the rim, positioning the bow in the front of the hat. Put a few dots of glue around the rim on the gingham ribbon, repeat with the maroon ribbon. Using hot glue, adhere the silk rose to the center of the bow on the maroon ribbon. Allow to dry.

Finishing Touches
Using tacky glue, adhere the doily heart to the front of the body. Use black Sharpie marker to dot on eyes. Using a small sponge or small roughed up paint brush, pick up some pink paint, then dab off most of the excess onto a paper towel. There should only be a light amount left. Dab on the pink for the cheeks.
