The only thing I need to do now is the fried apples

which are replacing the yams, that I can't eat and dd hates. I have the ham in the oven, it was already precooked, but I added some pineapple, some Brown Sugar Twinn and some real sugar for taste. I have the green beans on for dd. I just need to brown the turkey, fry the apples, and put the biscuits into the oven and I'm done. Yoohoo!!!

conveniently forgot...

the sweet potatoes No one likes them except my in-laws (even dh hates them). They didn't offer to bring the yucky things - oops I forgot to make them. Oh well.
My whole house smells like onions !!! Can't get the smell off my hands. This bird better be real good.
Everyone is still sleeping except me and my pooch, so I'm taking the opportunity to do my nails, see you all later.

Next time you plan on cooking look for a bar of coffee soap, it takes away the smell of onions and garlic.

Erica

I'm so proud of you... that was a extremely frugal gift, I don't think anyone can top that one. Good Job!

I'm glad to hear everyone had a good thanksgiving and no ones dinner got burned or turkey didn't thaw. Ours is still in the frig. semi thawed, we expected it though so bought a small fresh one after work yesterday.

On Mike's fudge, maybe you should video tape it. so many recipes are lost because it's in someones head! My Dad used to make a killer fudge recipe with marshmallow creme, we've never been able to duplicate it.

Paintingnut,

Where did you get the pattern for the dinosaur shaped duffle bag? That is something my son would love....!

Our TG was okay. Quiet...... honestly it was much better when dad went home. I was hoping he would start feeling better but no he isn't. It is his desison ...... to keep doing the things he did for mom, to try to make her happy or live his life for himself. He needs to let go.

Dad did make the turkey and three kinds of pudding....! I don't know what he did to the turkey but...... we have had better. He used a roasting bag inside mom's big electric roaster. With water. I think he steamed it. Hint, don't steam turkey.

My inlaws stopped by.... I am laughing at them..... FIL is falling apart because this friend of mine who has one small cancer in her lung.... went to school with him. He already has her dead and buried and is grieving. Then we had all the 'hints' about the family dinner on Sunday. Dh has already explained..... no safe food, no safe place to eat...we will not be there. This year dh was VERY blunt to them. Can lightening please hit them on the head and jump start their brains??? If dks hadn't been in the room, I would have bluntly told them that my dd life is worth far more than a family dinner when family refuses to care about safe food for her. I will NOT do something stupid and kill my dd to make them happy. Just for a family dinner? They aren't worth it. I don't think people who are control freaks (FIL and my dad) are ever happy.

We have watched sooo many movies today..... my eyeballs are ready to fall out!

Blue bird, I am not sure where this dinosaur duffle bag came from, its printed on canvas.. all you do is cut it out and sew it up. My mother found it burried under years worth of fabric in her store room. However, if you would like.. there were two of the dinos printed on the canvas.. I am only planning to make one, would you like the other one? I would be willing to share.. maybe you have some thing interesting that I could use / or an idea to make and we can swap?? What do you think??
Any way,,.... Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone.

Getting up really early

for one item tomorrow. I'm gonna go out for the first time for those sales. I have a coat in layaway at Kmart. The first time I put it in there it was $70, I cancelled it and put it back in and it was then $45. But Walmart has a coat tomorrow for $14.88. If I can fit it, plus sized, I'm gonna buy it and then just cancel my other coat. There was flurries today so I need it.

Well off to bed.

P.S. does anyone know how to get rid of fleas either naturally or what product really really works. There's fleas in this house and we don't have any animals but two hamsters. I think the fleas came from the couch my landlord gave me. I washed the couch but didn't think there was fleas. I have bombed the house a few times and this time nothing seems to work. I've used Borax but either I'm not doing it right or its just not working. Any ideals???

Had a nice Thanksgiving, with 19 people there are usually a few issues (my uncle has teenagers that are quite sassy so there tends be a few loud problems) Its embarrising, but this year not a one!!!
Erika,
Your fudge sounds good! Very thoughtful gift!
Not going out shopping tommorow but may check online to see if there are any deals there without dealing with huge crowds! I would like to get dh some dress shirts as he needs them, especialy if he has to start going on interviews, maybe even a couple of new ties. We still have not heard anything regarding the job he did interview for....I would assume if he was completly out of the running he would have received a form letter so we shall see.
Bluebird,
I have to ask what have your inlaws done that isnt safe? I must have missed that conversation!
Tommorow we are heading out to my other grandmas since it is to hard to do more than one house, this way we can spend some quality time with her, she just had a birthday this past week (84) so we will be celbrating that as well.
Today was a frugal day didnt spend a dime! Believe it or not with 19 people there was still leftover turkey, gram sent us home with enough for at least 3 sandwhiches. All the sidedishes and pie were cleaned up I never realized how simple candied yams were. (thats what I brought) I love yams but could do without the candied part!
Well good luck to all of you who may be shopping on black Friday hope you find some great bargains!

MAD AT WALMART

I got up this morning and dragged dd and I out into the cold for there early sale at 6:00. I wanted the coat advertised as a size 22-24 for $14.88. I get there and they only had 16/18 or less. They apparently put out ONE 22-24, though in the paper it said 22-24 was on sale. I was so upset. I just got dd's medicine and came back home. I can't believe they did that.

I put up my Xmas decorations last night I just need a few more so dd and I are gonna go up to the Dollar store and get some nice decorations for outside to make it look nice, I only had a few things on hand. So off to sleep until it's time to wake up again.

Leasmom--did you get a raincheck on the coat? I had that problem last year at Walmart--got so fed up I told the manager as he was filling out all 27!! of my rainchecks that advertising things you don't have and then replacing them with more expensive items is called bait-and-switching, and in most states is totally illegal. He ended up subbing quite a few items, but I still contacted the corporate office because I had stood outside for an hour just to get in, then found out that they didn't even have the items I wanted. I don't mean they sold out to the people that got in the store before me--they didn't have them to begin with!! This year, there were a few things I wanted, but dh ended up going alone because the kids got sick last night and there's no way I'm dragging them out in this snowy weather to stand in long lines!!

So that's my frugal thing for the day--I stayed home lol!! I'm very bad at impulse buying. Even though it would be gifts for people, and we'll be spending the money anyway...but we've set up a budget and I don't want to blow it!!

I am glad I stayed home today. I was thinking about going to walmart but decided not to. There wasn't anything in the flyers that interested me...... not enough anyway.

Lee, my dd has a fatal allergy to peanuts, nuts and seeds. She can't eat them, breathe their dust (smell) or touch them.... or anything they have touched. We almost lost her a few years ago when at AWANA some girls had eaten sunflower seeds held her against her will in a room and breathed on her. The ER doctor was so mad, he was kicking the wall. Peanut reside, the oil, is very hard to get rid of. A swipe with a dishcloth will not do it. Been there, tried that. My inlaws have nuts at their house ALL the time..... the last time we went there, dd walked in to the living room where my BIL was eating cashews. We left.... and my inlaws felt so 'bad'...... but they quietly refuse to work with us on meals.... I have had family dinners here for my inlaws but ..... I do all the shopping, cooking, serving and cleaning. My one BIL and SIL have decided that I suffer from, oh, the weird name... where the mom makes the child sick to get attention for herself.... and no one will say anything to them...... really... to **** with them. We don't need that crap.

Loving grandparents huh? I have already told my kids IF they ever treat each other like dh's siblings treat each other, I will be on them so fast. My children will not act like their aunts and uncles. I brought them into this world and I don't care if I am 80 y o and walking with a cane.... I will be on them so fast.......

Paintingnut I pm'd you!
