Great Christmas story...I needed that! THANKS!

My oldest is 10 and at age 8 started asking about Santa. All I told her at that point was that Christmas is magic and when the magic is gone it is not that much fun anymore. Well at 9 we had the same conversation and at ten she was determined to find out. I let her approach me with the question. After talking I asked her what she truley thought, she still was not sure. So I told her the truth I was more upset than she was...after all it was like a piece of childhood gone. DD was so excited all she wanted was to help next Christmas with shopping, wrapping,etc. Well it came and she did not want to help, she even went to bed when we put her sister in on Christmas Eve so she would not see the presents under the tree and would be suprised in the a.m. She was suprised and a little down because now she knew that it was not Santa, just Mom & Dad. I told her to never tell her little sister or anyone else. When I was younger my older sister told me there was no Santa to be mean...I still remember that awful day and don't think I will every truley forgive her for it.

Someone mentioned they place the tooth into a glass instead of under the pillow. I just wanted to comment and say that is how it is done in Sweden and I am happy it is making life a little easier - especially those light sleepers.

I have been forgetting to ask....somebody emailed me interested in the plastic canvas patterns - I had asked if just one was wanted or both and never got a reply. I have lost those emails and forgot who asked. email me whoever you are

The tooth fairy in our house only pays 50 cents, and that has only changed once. My eldest had a really really loose tooth for 3months and no matter how hard we tried we couldn't get the blasted thing out. We went on holidays to another state and said to ds, as an enticement, that if his tooth falls out in another state he would get double because the toothfairy would be confused as she was not where he was supposed to be. So the night before we crossed the border home he was in the shower and we heard a yell, oh no we thought he's hurt himself, but no, the shower walls were covered with spots of blood where he had finally pulled out his tooth and spat water, hence the blood on the walls........ and he got his $1 for his tooth at last!
He knows who the tooth fairy is now, but he still likes to get his money for his teeth in his little jar.

LOLOL...what some kids will do for a buck. I couldn't pay mine enough to pull out their own teeth!

The tooth fairy has gotten more generous.

When my dk's were little back in the 60's they got 25 cents.

There are some great ideas here. I will have to try those. My youngest has not lost any teeth yet and will be 7 next month. He does have 2 permanant teeth in behind his two front bottom teeth which are not loose at all. I am hoping that the dentist will pull them at the next visit then the Tooth Fairy will have to leave double for both teeth.

saw this thread and had to post as myb oldest girl (5) has her 1st loose tooth made a ribbon bag for her to put it in now just waiting for it to fall out..dont know where she got the idea but she thinks the tooth fairy leaves lolipops?
