Summer holiday

When do your children's summer holidays start?

How long have they got off this year?

Our children break up on the17th July and they are off of 6 weeks.
Last year we had 5 week off and then had September break, so I am presuming that because we are back to 6 weeks we won't be having September break.

They have al sorts planned, so have we. We are hoping to go to both east and west coast. We are hoping to go camping a few times too

Deb our kids started holidays June 27th....they are off until Sept. So 8 weeks or so of holidays... My oldest is at cadet camp for 6 weeks, my middle for 2 weeks at cadet camp and my youngest is at a variety of camps through the summer. She has already done a sleepover camp for a week...next week she goes to soccer camp. She also has karate camp, a day camp based on being green, a church VBS and then 2 weeks of holidays with family.
I have almost 3 weeks off this summer. I have family coming for 1 week so that will be fun and 1 week we are not sure what we will do....the other days are split up into long weekends when we will attend grads from cadet camp and a sunset ceremony.....

A busy time for sure

hugs debbie

My children finished school for the year on June 17. They will go back on Sept. 8 or 10 (my older son is in a different school with a later start date). We get a 10-day (or so) break at Christmas and a week at Easter.

The schools are crazy here we were out May 29th will go back August 24. They have almost 2 weeks over Christmas and a week the first of April.

Do you have a lot of short breaks in the UK or is your school year just that much longer than here in the USA since you only have 6 weeks at summer instead of the 10 that we get?

Wow 8-10 weeks off, Ours are fed up after 3 and struggle with 6, how do you manage 8-10 weeks?

We start the year beginning sept and go through till Mid October and have a week off.
Then we go through to Christmas and have 2 weeks off.
Round Valentines we get a week off
Then Easter it is 2 weeks
June it is 1 weeks
Then 6 week summer

In between we have
Occasional Days – 30th October 2009, 18/19th February, 7th June 2010.

Training Days – 2nd September (Priorities), 23rd October (Target Setting) 8th June (Reports), 9th June (Priorities), 16th July (Transition)

There are 8 bank holiday dates as well, but some are incorporated into some of the holidays

It makes for a long summer that is for sure. The kids lose so much too from lack of use.

We don't get a week in between the 9 weeks of classes before the next quarter UNLESS you happen to live in a school district that operates in the year round catagory.

Happy face

In my area of Jersey the kids got out of school the 20th of June. They will go back around September 8th.
