I saw the "Chronicles of Riddick and thought it was a great sci-fi movie. It was a great follow up to the first movie "Pitch Black". You don't really need to see "Pitch Black" to understand the Riddick movie. I liked both.

Good Morning Movie Lovers....

An older movie popped in my head over the weekend....The Accidental Tourist. Has anyone ever seen this move and if so....did you like it? I'm pretty sure that I did but it's been a long time. It had William Hurt and Geena Davis in it.

Yes I also liked "Chronicles of Riddick" but then I like Vin Diesel also, another good Vin Diesel movie is A Man Apart.
Now back to "The Rock, LOL, have you seen The Rundown, thats with the Rock and SeanMicheal Scott, and its very entertaining yet alot of action with the comical style the Rock has.
DH is a big Rock fan and I never paid much attention to him until The Scorpion King movie,I only knew him as a wrestler.
Has anyone seen Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale, I like both of them but wasnt too impressed with the movie, they are both way too talented actors for something like that..
I have to pick up Spiderman 2 for DH tomorrow when it comes out, LOL, hes like a little kid, and has to get it the day its out.
Also have to pick up Mean Girls for my 8 yr old GD I hope its not too mature for her, does anyone know anything about it??

Sandie , We have sen rundown here too. We liked spiderman 2 much better than the 1st one. We have seen mean girls here and it was okay but my kids were not thrilled with it.

My 17 year old daughter and I went to see "Mean Girls" and it was ok. I guess I thought this movie had so much potential but took a wrong turn somewhere. It was good, but nothing special. I don't remember anything in it that would be too much for an 8 year old. I have to say my favorite Vin Diesel movie is "Triple XXX". I absolutely love the soundtrack and thought the movie was a good action film. There is just something about Vin Diesel's voice and smile! My children just watched "Ven Helsing" and really liked it but I didn't bother to watch it so can't say if I think it is worth seeing. I haven't seen "The Rundown" yet but think it sounds like a good movie to rent with my children. It is hard to find movies that all my children will like because of their age differences. (My dd is 17, and my two ds's are 14 and 10) They have such different tastes. One thing they all do agree on is they love scary movies. Hard to find good scary movies that are not just slasher films which I don't let them watch. We did like "The 6th Sense" and "The Others" but thought "The Haunting" was stupid. Any suggestions for good scary movies out there with good story lines? Some gore is ok but not if it is the only premise of the whole movie.

Sammy1961, if you want to see a "scary movie with the kids
its "Darkness Falls" now I dont get too scared at scary movies but this one scared me to death,Im not too sure what it is about the movie, but you will never look at the "tooth Fairy the same way again, LOL.
Thanks for the info on Mean Girls Deb, and Sammy, I will pick it up since thats one on her list and DD hasnt gotten it yet for her,its hard to know what DVDs to buy for 6 & 8 yr olds that dont like "cartoon movies any more, they grow up too fast.

They certainly do grow up too fast Sandie. My 10 ds wants all these movies that are so not appropriate for his age. My 15 ds wants to see movies like "The Godfather" and "The Exorcist" and I won't allow that either. Luckily they also like movies like the "Lord of the Rings" series and the "Harry Potter" series. We did see "Darkness Falls" and did think it was scary. I also saw the movie "The Forgotten" and absolutely loved it! It was a great scary movie with a good story line. Unfortunately I can't let my 15 ds see it as he is obsessed with aliens and I think that would get him all paranoid again. He went through a stage when he was younger and was convinced he saw UFO's outside his window every night and that aliens could come and get us etc. We saw the movie "Signs" and he couldn't sleep all night and had the lights on all over the house! He has pretty much outgrown that but I don't want to start it again! Once my children are grown up they can see any movie they want but for now I try to set limits. It's not easy to find good and interesting movies that young teens will enjoy without them being just a violent blood fest.

OOOH, thanks for reminding me about the Harry Potter movies, I know they dont have the recent one thats another I can get.
My oldest GD also likes Lindsay Lohan (the one from Freaky Friday) so I know anything shes in is pretty safe. I know what you mean about the blood and gore and violence on some of the movies,DH watches alot of them, and I have to be careful when GD's are here in what they watch. Not only that but they can just pick up the remote and watch the same thing on any cable channel on our tv so I have to watch that. I try and leave the tv on the Disney Channel when they are here or else let them do crafts, much safer, LOL!!
If they are over later the movie choice for the day is Santa Claus 2,thats a funny one.

I want to see Harry Potter as well!! The last two movies I saw were National Treasure and Sideways. National Treasure is definitely a family movie and Sideways is an adult movie.

Still haven't seen Finding Neverland...

Watched the new Jet Li movie "Hero" with DH last night, I didnt think I was gonna like it, but it was actually pretty good, it took me awhile to like Jackie Chan movies also, but now I love them, I still think Jackie Chan has a much better
personality than Jet LI, althought they are both so taleneted with the martial art moves!!! Also have Spiderman II to watch, jst havent had the time, probably will watch it over the weekend.

Has anyone seen the Stepford Wives? I was gonna pick that up but wasnt too sure how it was?
