I am absolutely terrified of spiders!!! My parents tell me that I never used to be afraid of them. I can't even look at them on tv or pictures in books nor when my kids draw them on paper that's how much it affects me. One time, I was getting out of the shower and I saw a tiny little spider on the floor in the bathroom and I screamed bloody murder. My husband ran in thinking that I fell in the tub. I told him that I'm not getting out of the tub until he kills the damn thing. I could've killed him, he stood there laughing at me and playing with the spider. Tell you what, after he took care of it, I about splattered him like I wanted to splatter that awful spider. I was angry at the time, but now we laugh about it and tell the story to people when spiders are talked about. LOL
But I have no idea when I started becoming deathly afraid of em.
Dont feel Bad My Hubby is deathly afraid of spiaders, he wont even kill them I have to He will run out of the room screaming if he sees one. so its ok and dont worry about it, I think that when we get older we get more afraid of things that we wernt. my son dont like cotton balls

Oh Bunny, you will be truly missed by your FC friends God's speed.
I am the exact same way except it is black fuzzy spiders. I can't even look at them on television or in pictures. The funny thing is that I can kill a rattle snake and cut its head off and handle it with my bare hands, but I can't even look at a black fuzzy spider.
I once was afraid of spiders. Not quite to the screaming for help stage, but really pretty afraid. Then I had my red-headed son. I looked at that kid lying in my arms and realized that one day he was going to come running in saying, "Look what I found, Mom!" And he was going to dump a spider <yick!> into my hand. And to avoid traumatizing my son (or giving him something to tease me with) I was going to have to say, "Oh - look! What a nice big spider you have caught! How about taking it back and putting it where it can play with it's friends?" and hand it back to him.
At that realization, I began to deliberately de-sensitize myself to spiders. By the time he actually did that (yes, he really did!), I was able to look at it, point out the 8 eyes and 8 legs, identify it as a "jumping" spider, and hand it back to him. He was disappointed - seems the mother of one of his friends had a hissy fit when he brought a spider to her and he thought it would be "cool" to see how I would react! I've even gotten to the point I can pick up a big tarantula and let it walk on my arm and hand. I still don't "like" them, the way I like snakes, but I managed to get over my terror.
The ol' curmudgeon refuses to "deal" with ****roaches. Since we live in the south and the "Palmetto bugs" come in whenever the ivy gets too deep, I'm the one who has to chase them down, spray them, squish them and flush them.
We used to live in neighborhood with rats, and they got into the cellar and set up housekeeping. Have you any idea how fast those varmits multiply??? He wouldn't empty the traps. I had to do it. Got pretty good at it, too, by the way!!
I have worked my way through my fears about spiders through reading about them, then viewing them from a "safe" distance, and gradually getting closer and closer so I could describe their features. Finally, I got to the point I could handle them. That study helped me learn to identify the spiders to realistically respect and "fear," and those that are harmless. Now, this is my way of dealing with things I fear. Other people use other methods. If the fear "works" for you, is functional, then ignore it. But if you are concerned about it, you will need to figure out how to get over it, and what will work for you.
Cheerio!

I have the arachnaphobia that I literally scream for help. DH has been wonderful to tell me when there is one on television so that I will not look. I also have a DS. He brough home a lot of things like rattle snakes and scorpions, but he knew better than to bring hom a spider as he knew how I was. lol From the research in psychology, there is no cure for true phobias. Also, they can be acquired in one trial. I know many people who go through behavior modification to help them deal with their phobias, especially when they affect their jobs. But, the affects are only temporary.
My oldest daughter is terrified of spiders...she would scream this ear-piercing scream if one was in the bathroom...I thought someone was killing her...
Spiders don't bother me...

I don't like the small ones or anything that I can't see their mouth parts ...I also don't like things that are bigger than me. June bugs I will not touch and they really freak me out. I think chilly beans look like them and so I don't like chilly beans ...although since I found out my uncle told me that chilly beans were June bugs(I was small child) it is not as bad as it was. I can finally eat chilly, just not the beans so much.

Crickets - but not grasshoppers. Dunno why - think a cricket bit me when I tried to catch it as a child. But, then, grasshoppers bit me, too and I'm not afraid of them. Don't really have a "phobia" about crickets, just don't want to be around them or handle them.
