How do you paint your nails?

I like all sorts of colors, minus yellow I don't like yellow nail polish.
I'll do mine up like a french manicure but all different colors. For Christmas I had emerald green nails with silver tips looked awesome. For Valentine's now coming up they are a red with pink tips and little pink hearts on the beds. For Halloween it's black with orange tips. I do do my own nails, well sometimes dh helps me out
How do you do yours? Traditional, funky, professionally done?

When I do my nails I suppose I like to stick to pretty traditonal colours like pinks, in varying shades and brightness, the french manicure in a couple of colours, my kids hate the reds and blues and I'd have to say they aren't for me.
I love the new quick dry dry polishes as I always have one or two I knock, and leave marks on
I do like the people who have the gumption to do all the colours on themselves with the decals etc. It's just not me.

Well, when I used to paint my nails (ahhh, those were the days!!), I liked to paint them dark brown or pastel or red, whatever struck me! I also liked the french manicure look. I am able to grow my nails long and they are STRONG, so I don't have problems with that area.

I just don't have time anymore with a 10-month-old and a 3-year-old running around. Someday......

I did paint my nails yellow once. Once. A lady at church saw my nails and, with the best of intentions, thought I had cancer and became my very own mother hen! When we finally got things straightened out we had quite a laugh!

I keep my nails neat, and filed, but not long. I'm always on the computer (I'm a freelance writer), so long nails would be deadly! Anyway, I always keep a couple of coats of clear nail polish on my nails to protect them, but sometimes I like to add a bit of whimsy...

Old Navy has the coolest nail polishes for the holidays. I just picked up a bottle that has red hearts and a little glitter for Valentine's Day. At Christmas, they had light and dark blue glittery nail polish, as well as some others.

I pretty much stick to traditional shades, mainly sheers because I am constantly chipping the polish. But way back when---I would go wild!! Blue, purple, yellow, black, anything went! I'd have them airbrushed a lot. Now I'm lucky to keep a clear coat on them lol!

I keep my nails short. I use my hands everyday working around the house and "hate" chipped nail polish...looks so trashy. I buff my nails and keep them shiny with my buffer..they are natural and shiny..love the look. I keep all the ridges out of my nails by buffing them. I guess I am a natural woman...ha ha

I will try just about any color~
I am fairly light skinned so I don't like dark red,mauves.. they make me look pastey!
I am a bank teller so I keep them rather short but polished.
You should see the collection I have in my drawer at work!

I have this awesome teal green! I just LOVE!

anything I wear has to be a frost... and SHINEY no matte color!

A little idea for mamma's of preschooler girls.
My daughter is now 2 1/2 and I have a collection of colors just for her. Very basic primary colors. Red,Orange,Green,Purple and even yellow,etc..... I paint her toes in a different color each time we do them. About every 2-3 weeks. Then whenever I see her little tootsie we talk about what color they are and what colors are similar! A fun color lesson!! I currently only do her toes because hands/fingers still end up in her mouth.

I used to do my nails in many different color and styles too, before I had kids. My nails are strong and grow long and very fast, but right now it's hard enough finding time to clip them before they break off. I know that someday I'll be able to sit around and do my nails like I used too, but with baby # 4 on the way, it will be awhile. I'll just live vicariously through you!

My nails are short.
When I paint them - it's usually just for special occassions, or if I'm in the mood, but it doesn' t last, the remover is usually out within a day!

Now, toes, that's different - the summer all summer they're painted. My friend has a nail business and she french tipped them and paited pretty flowers on them. That was a treat.

Paint what nails? I have AWFUL nails, 10 fingers 10 different lengths, all short. My oldest dd has hers done and I keep saying that I'm going to do this some day but I really don't like the long lengths that salons do. I want nails that (1) are the same lenght and (2) want those to barely go past the tip of my fingers. I've tried long ones and couldn't even button my blouse or fold clothes. HATED them.
Like Caron though, come summer I will have fun with the toenails. I wear toe rings and all. I have terrible (painful) feet due to surgeries and now neruopathy so wear sandals pretty much all year. I figure I may as well have fun with the toes at least.
