No wood-workers in my immediate family. My step-grandfather made some beautiful minitures later in life, as well as cut the pieces for my grandmother's tole painting.
DH is a mechanic...he goes there on occasion for 'vroom-vroom' stuff. We got the axle kit and wheels for the truck bed trailer there. He also likes to drool over the bed tool boxes.
I think it was actually the webmaster for the 4-wheeling group we're involved in that told him about it.
HOW funny! It must be a man thing. I swear we can't go to Lowes or Home Depot wihtout my dh heading to the tools section at some point. After all, they may have some fantastic thing for a wonderful bargain don't ya know. And they do sometimes! I hate going to those places with him. It wouldn't be so bad if they'd put benches in for us weary spouses to sit on every few aisles. I swear I didn't know it was possible to spend so much time just looking at electric caps and this is not a man who has difficulty making decisions. I think he just likes looking. If we can't get to the store then he'll often take out his tool catalogs and peruse those. Ah well at least he's home and it's not girly magazines.

I've never been to an aldi's,(but like abear) I tried save-a-lot and it was soo dirty, and it smelled in their store, so I didn't buy anything and I never went back.
My grandma said she thought the same thing about Save A Lot a few years ago, but a friend told her to try again. She said it was cleaned up and decent! Says she got some pretty good deals and the next time I went to her house we were going to check it out! Of course we usualy visit on Sunday and there probaly closed so well see!

Lowe's has all of their brand tools on clearance (we had to stop and look when we were there this past Saturday ). It's the Kobalt brand if I remember rightly. Ours was picked pretty much clean and I was able to remind DH that we needed groceries more than he needed sockets...even though we were shopping with a gift card.
~We have Save A Lot's here in Michigan. I've been in two of them, and plan to visit the third one that has just opened. The first Save A Lot is the closest to me.....only a ten minute drive. I've had a bad experience each time I "try~again" going in to purchase food. Each time is the same at that one. I keep thinking it will change, but "no". It is filthy, smelly, just YUK! As I went by the frozen foods section, the freezers were actually defrosting. I picked up one of the items in a box, only to find the box not frozen, but felt like a wet noodle. I surely wouldn't buy anything there! I believe that the condition of each store, is in the hands of that managment. I say that because the second Save A Lot I went to, which is a half hour drive, is nothing like the other. I would, and have bought things from there. I'm looking to visit the new, third one, and I bet that one is clean also. A person just has to check em out! PLUS ....they accept coupons!!! Can't beat some of their sales prices.....and with a coupon on it, it's almost free.
We also have Aldi's....can't say anything, but good about them.....
If any of you still have a Sav-A-Lot that is dirty please make a complaint to the corporate office! They don't know if they aren't told. They have really good prices and could really help on a tight grocery budget. I don't blame you for not buying when the store is in the condition you describe, but that is the fault of the store manager and not the way the store is supposed to be ran. We have one 30 miles from us and it is always clean and a nice one to shop in. One thing I really like about it is that the one I shop in buys produce locally when it is available. So that really lets them have a great price; they even beat Wally World which is across the street!
