I belong to a solar energy group and someone brought this up in conversation today and I was intriqued enough to look up the reference to Home Depot. It's a little pricey but a awesome idea I think in reducing waste and the compost can then be used in your garden.. what will they think of next? Oh and although pricey, I would think some of your cost could be recouped in the amount of water not used to flush each time too and of course, less water used better for the environment and in areas with low rainfall this could be a good choice.
We had looked into those when we built our log home, but with all the other "new" to us things we went with we decided that maybe this one can come along when we need to replace one of the toilets. Not so bad when just you and your immediate family use it, but I'm not quite ready for others to use it! lol
There would be saving s on water and also it won't be using the septic system so that is a plus also! I really would like to find someone that has had one for awhile and get their input on it!

I've heard of these toilets, I would get one in a flash if I had the money. I would think that once visitors found out you had a composting toilet they would decide to hold it till they got home LOL!
I've seen these toilets "demonstrated" (you know what I mean -- lol!) on HGTV. I'm impressed with those that install one, but I don't think that I'm ready to do it myself!
We do have a double "seater" working outhouse, but indoors just regular toilets. We are expanding the one room cabin to include a kitchenette, and a indoor toilet. I looked further into the composting toilets for this, but the area perked for a septic so we are going to have the cabin have its own septic system.
