Kathymac, Last year we had a huge nest of ants outside..I used cornmeal & artificial sweetner,(powdered). Ants were going crazy over it..I could see ants crawling over the blades of grass....by the 2nd day..they were dead.

If you are using it inside..keep away from pets, and babies..they do not need to eat all that Splenda, Sugar Twin..whatever you use.

The small black ants around a stove, like to eat the poision that comes in a little round red can..for sweet ants They usually disappear quickly.

Now I store everything in glass or plastic jars with screw lids..ants seem to go for cereal, sugar, flour, etc.

Hugs, Janet

Kathy, did you check the Ants thread for some solutions? There are a few non-pesticide, green ideas in there. Hope one of them works for you

That cornmeal and sugar twin etc sounds simple and easy. I don't have any little ones but do have a beloved dog so thanks for the warning there too. Don't have any ants yet but know I will before summer is over with.
Barbszy did not know there was an ANT thread either. FC has a little bit of everything doesn't "she"?

Big Grin

I've never owned a dishwasher but using a dishwasher that is a full load saves 5,000 gallons of water as well as 230 hours of your time every year.........Your computer sucks up energy even when it's idle, so program to sleep for 12 hours a day. You'll help extend its workng life too. .........If you turn up the air conditioner 3 degrees, your home will still be pleanty cool use less enegy. Change the filter as recomended and you will save even more. ..........Repair a drip and you'll conserve 5 gallons of water per day, which adds up to more then 1,800 gallons each year. ........You can reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by 800 pounds a year by taking the bus, walking, carpooling, or riding your bike one day a week. You'll also save about 130 gallons of gas a year. ........I do not like the CFLs but they say it does use 70% less energy. They are suppose to last 10 times longer, but I have not found this to be true.
