My family uses reusable water bottles for drinks "on the road." They're easy to wash and don't create the waste that regular water bottles do. We just fill them with filtered water and some ice cubes, and they're ready to go.
I have bought green bags for the grocery store. I am going to grow another organic garden again this year. I've replaced some of my lightbulbs with energy efficient, I still need to replace as many as possible. I freecycle and have done that for about 4 yrs now-(which keeps items out of the landfill), and I'm trying to buy as many organic/recycled products as I can, though not always a choice.
I'm trying to cut down on my water use but my mother potty trained us to the sound of water, and though I'm 33 yrs old, I find that I turn on the faucet during that time. I have been cutting it off, its a bad habit. I also bought a new shower head that has a small trickle for lathering and then a switch for showering. I've also reduced the washing I do. I used to wash at least twice a day but now I'm only washing once every few days.
I do not buy bottled water. I use reusable, refillable bottles. I've started replacing all of my lightbulbs with CFLs. I have cut WAY back on using disposable products - aluminum foil, plastic wrap, paper towels, ziploc bags, etc. I try to buy things with minimal packaging. I carry canvas bags with me when I shop.
The biggest thing I am doing is trying to drive much less. I have begun to walk or ride my bike more, and am choosing businesses and services closer to home.
I read somewhere that Walmart is giving away free reusable shopping bags on Earth Day. I guess it would be good to check with your local store on the details.
