I actually have a little bit of time to pop on here real quick to chat! I am not sure where to put this so that everyone gets to see it!
I would like to thank everyone that has been praying for Kim as she recovers. And to thank everyone that has sent cards.
Kim really does enjoy the cards. As she has started to read, and the cards are really nice for her to read, as it shows her that she is really thought of and cared for. And they are short enough for her attention span right now.
It is so touching to be part of such a loving group of people that I have never personally met!
I would also like to give an extra special thanks to Barb, Karen & Donna for keeping everyone updated when I just don't have time to update everyone individually!
Just a little update on Kim:
Kim is still very confused. She does have the trachea out now. And has started to talk. She has told me she Loves me!!
Kevin was able to get in to visit her on Friday. She seems to respond best to Kevin and me. After being told by therapy that she was in a bad accident, she told Kevin that "it is all lies". Kevin saw she was upset, and asked her what's up, and she told Kevin "they are brainwashing me".
The poor thing!
She stated to me last night that I was to "shut my mouth" that "they don't need to know so much".
I believe this is a step up in recovery for her, believe it or not!
So, as hurting as it was to hear those words, it was also kind of like a victory!
Sorry, to anyone who gets this update in a bigger mode, I am going to try to send out a mass e-mail to update everyone, including those not from FC.
Thanks again everyone!!

Happy to hear of Kim's progress. I am also glad to see that you have a positive attitude and can see small victories in things that may not seem like victories at the time.
My prayers are with you and your family.

Karen, God bless you as you continue to pass strength and love on to Kim. Great news that she is progressing. Karen, don't forget to make time for yourself too, that is sooo important.
Prayers daily,

Just wanted to let everyone know a little bit of what is going on.
Kim seems to improve a little each week. Some days, as is expected with a brain injury patient she is not as well as other days.
Yesterday the poor child called home here to let me know that her belly was upset, and that she don't think they will let her come home. I didn't know what to say to her. So, I asked her if she thought maybe if she laid down for a little she might feel better. And she said Do you think I would? I told her I thought so. Than she asked me when she is allowed to come home. (talk about wanting to cry). I told her we would have to ask the doctors.
I changed the subject and asked her if someone was in the room with her. And she told me some lady was, she said I guess it is a nurse or something.
Than she asked me when Kevin was coming home. I think she is trying to get home before him, which looks like it will happen, beings that he can't behave where he is at!
Than she again told me that she don't feel good.
Two things here, that is what she would do when she was in school and wanted to come home from school!! Signs of Kim coming back!!
And this shows that she is now a leve 5 on what the medical field calls the "Rancho Los Amigos" scale. She has to get to a level 8 to come home.
But, at this rate, it won't be long until she can come home! As the accident was 5 weeks agon on Sunday. So that is 1 level per week!! Good sign!
Than the social worker from the hospital called yesterday, and let me know it would be about three more weeks until she can come home, provided that the insurance gives them three more weeks.
I am thinking that once she does come home, she will really bounce back to the same ole' Kim in no time!!
I can not say it often enough than you all so very much for all your thougths and prayers for Kim!!
