Good evening all!!!

I had not a coupon in my paper this past week either. South Jersey doesn't get anything the weekend before a holiday. I have no hope for this coming Sunday either.

I had a great Christmas, but was I ever tired. Last Friday evening, a friend had an open house. I cooked a dish I rely on during the winter to pick me up a little.

And by the time I got home, I had no energy to wrap anything. So I popped in a movie, curled up on the couch and just relaxed.

I was up bright and early on Saturday. I had to vacuum, do a load of laundry, shower, etc. before I could start wrapping.

I wrapped for my nephew, my boyfriend, and the neighbors to my nephew where I was also invited for brunch. Then I wrapped for my aunt, cousins, and a couple more friends.

Then I was off - first to my sister's for gift exchange. Thankfully nephew was happy with just everything, nothing he didn't like. I received a new Holiday Celebration Barbie. And the much-liked, ever-needed tangerine lip balm from Avon. My favorite!!

His neighbors are sweet to invite me to their brunch. I always make cookies and give them boxes of cocoa mix. They ususally have a quiet Christmas Eve together, but not this year. So when I saw Mary show up in the skateboard shop, where I was getting nephew a gift certificate, she told me to just bring it to the brunch. What wonderful food and company.

Then home for a quick gift exchange with boyfriend (and he got Christmas dinner while he could). I only opened one thing, a small jewelry box, with a beautiful opal ring in it.

Then I had to pack the car again, and go to my aunt's home, for more food and company. Dinner was very quiet. With my uncle's passing a couple of months ago, and my cousin's daughter and son-in-law moving to North Carolina, there was no spirit to put on the tv for background noise, something my uncle would have done. And for some reason, she had no Christmas music on either. Just the four of us quietly eating. It was a little strange, but when it comes to prime rib, I can be very quiet, and just eat.

When the dinner dishes were done, my cousin who had to be with his wife's family, and the wife showed up, then came my aunt's family on her side, my nephew and sister. Then it was time for dessert. I had some Irish potato cake. It was chocolate and had both pecans and marachino cherries.

I went home full, and pretty happy. I got great gifts, including the new kitchen timer I so desperately needed. I have worn off the numbers bewteen 30 and 45 minutes. Usually, I go through kitchen timers due to dropping them. Not so with this one.

My girlfriend and I were scheduled to shop on Sunday. We go out to breakfast at a wonderful little mom-and-pop breakfast spot. Then we hit the stores. I needed tissue paper - am now set for a couple of years. I also look for clothes for work. And I only found 1 pair of jeans. I also needed some new tops for work, and found 7, but only after some really hard looking.

The bargains were not nearly as good as last year. So I didn't buy as much. Even so, we were gone from 7 am to after 3 pm.

I was dog tired, and still had to cook dinner.

I was actually happy to go back to work on Monday, it is less stressful!!!

My girlfriend thinks we should go out again Friday, during the day.

Well ladies, I better go for now. My bed is calling and I have to work a full day tomorrow, but am off Friday.

Take care all!!! Norma

Happy New Year to everyone!!

Wow! Norma.... I got tired just reading of all you have done! Don't think I could have gotten through even half. Glad you had anice holiday. How was your New Year?

I've already checked with Taylortown and our sunday papers will have coupon inserts. I'm looking forward to the morning paper. It's been such a long time for coupons. Hoping that 2005 will be better than 2004 was. I need to refill my coupon files!!

A quiet day, for me today. Will watch the Rose Bowl Parade, that leads into the Rose Bowl. My U of M football team will be playing. GO BLUE!!! Will make some bread while watching. Gotta luv that bread machine! LOL

YES!!!!!!!!
Our paper had inserts for tomorrow! We get the Sunday inserts with Saturday's paper. There were 3, all were on the small side, but they ARE in there.
Maybe later I'll get over to 7-11 and pick up tomorrow's Inquirer and get a jump start on my coupons. I love getting Sunday's paper a day ahead. I don't read the "hard news" much anyway, and the book review, coupons, cooking section, etc. are done way ahead of time.

Good New Year All!!

Carol Ann - thanks for the tease.

New Years eve was quiet. I was home alone because my boyfriend was doing dwi patrol all night, and not in Egg Harbor either. I got some chinese food and started a new afghan. I had bought a pattern book in the summer at Goodwill. On the cover was this charming afghan that compelled me to buy the book.

Yesterday, I could have gone to my aunt's for dinner, but she forgot to call to say she was "puttin' on a spread", so I didn't know until I called to wish her a Happy New Year. But I did stop after running Elwood and his friends around the world, and brought home a piece of cake. So other than that, I was just home. And lazing around the home. I did clip my begonia I brought in when it started to frost, and found a "cat misplaced" branch my boyfriend brought me of his Japanese Snowball bush to root.

Today will be a little different. I cleaned out my coupon box this morning, and was almost in tears that I had not used some of them. I plan to go to 2 markets, cut the coupons, watch the football games, cook some ribs (loss leader at one of the stores), do a load of laundry, walk across my alley and clip some branches of a lovely evergreen I just spotted and try to start them also. I figure that if it has the lovely shape it does, gets only partial afternoon sun and is totally neglected, then under slightly better conditions (regular watering, a little fertilizer now and then, mulch in the winter), it shoud be really nice. I don't know what it is, but it has short needles that are soft, the limbs are not woody, they bend nicely and it has a nice shape. So we will see. At least I will try to get them to grow. I have a lovely cedar that I saved and has been potted now for several years. I tried to give it to my friend when she moved, but her husband said it was too small. The cedars come up around my oak trees (and the stumps that are left out there), and start growing at very crooked angles. I try to rescue them. I also want to make some bread. And I want to finish the centers of the afghan squares for this new one.

Oh well, better go for now and get dressed, put a little makeup on so I won't scare the clerks, and do something with my hair.

Well, take care all!!

Norma

I am the queen of frugal here....
My BF's friends at work even save Sunday coupons for me, in hopes I will save enough to send extra leftovers with him to work!
(I send him home with dinner for his parents, and brother, so the work buddies LOVE when he comes in with extra) Sounds like we are young, but we are far from it... his family is very close, especially since the loss of his nephew last July. I save everything (most would say junk) but I make gifts and ornaments from lots that people would throw away. You may find me asking all of you for help on how things can be reused. But I am willing to share coupons I don't use... so how do I go about getting them to others?

Thanks, webe, for the offer of sharing your extra coupons, but being from New England, I 'm not sure we could use them I know that we can't use ones from Canada.
You are very welcome to visit with us here, though. We get alot of great ideas from our members.

Hi Norma! Another busy day for you, today. Did your sunday paper have the inserts in it? We got three inserts.

Have to file the new coupons, now.
Plus try to fill some requests.
