Question Pirate Birthday Party Food

I am having a Pirate themed birthday party for my soon to be 5 year old. Does anyone have any ideas for pirate themed food? The party will be for both children and adults.

I actually made these Chocolate Coin Cookies for Hanukkah but you could easily use them for gold coins in a treasure chest. http://www.familycorner.com/family/k..._cookies.shtml

Maybe buried treasure spaghetti (and meatballs as the treasure). Breadsticks can be swords.

Mac n Cheese is "gold" colored if you make it with yellow cheeses. Serve in a treasure chest.

Blue Jello for water and add gummi sharks to it!

I hope that others can share more ideas.

What about serving individual portions of blue jello with gummy fish in it to simulate the ocean?

You could also serve green spaghetti or similar pasta and call it seaweed. I like Tami's hidden meatball treasure idea!

Fish and chips are good since pirates probably ate fish. You could also serve pirates' teeth aka corn. You could serve golden nuggets, or chicken nuggets. If you served fish sticks, they could be called planks. If you made some round cookies, you could call them canon balls. You could also make hot dogs. Use a skewer and blank paper to make sails. The hot dogs would be the ships.

For drinks, you could have rum for the adults (Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum) or maybe a bottle of water with a label that says rum. lol If you made red punch, your could call that shark's blood or something to that nature. Root beer for ale.

I hope these ideas get your creative juices flowing. Let us know how the party turns out.

Those are some really good ideas. I have a little time to decide yet, but I will definitely keep these ideas in the front of my brain! Let me know if you come up with anything else.

You could make Beef Stew and call it "Pirates stew". And make bisquits as the bread. Use any dark colored soda as Ale that pirates drink or make tea and call it "Bilge Water".
You could make Rootbeer Floats the foam on top would make it look more like beer.
You could make jello jigglers and cut with a small circle cutter and mix into whip cream they could be coins to dig for. Or use Chocolate pudding and use mini chocolate chip cookies for a buried treasure for dessert.

Well, we finally had the birthday party last weekend. I'm afraid that I went with our old standby of tacos. There were too many people who still wanted them. They were also easy to feed to the kids and adults. I did get some goldfish crackers and I did the blue jell-o with the fish in it.
I made a pirate ship cake and it turned out pretty cool. Everyone had a good time! I just trying to figure out how we fit everyone in our small apartment! Thanks for the ideas!

Tami, I am glad that your party went so well! Sometimes we have to keep some of the old standbys since they are so popular and we know everyone will enjoy them.
