the easiest thing to do for your health during the
hectic holidays—AND, if it’s a natural option,
even better!

THIS WEEK'S MEMBER AWARDS
The following members have earned awards this past week.
You can earn fun awards too, check them out here:

--->>

-------------------
QUEEN'S CROWN AWARD
-------------------

bluebird - Queen's Crown Award
bluebird has earned a Queen's Crown award for
earning 5 Frugal Tip icons. Here are her winning
tips:

1. It will save you a lot of money if you buy beef or
pork in bulk (from the farmer). See complete tip:
FamilyCorner.com Magazine - include

2. Saving up for a particular item for yourself? Why
not use a “reloadable” gift card? Add a little bit to
the gift card each time you are in the store and
watch the total grow until you have enough for
that special item!

3. Remake an old kitchen or bathroom cabinet
into a potting stand. Be sure to waterproof it!

4. Use scraps of polar fleece to make your own
reusable “Swiffer” dusters.

5. Use a cup of vinegar and a capful of Listerine
to help remove the musty smell in clothes.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

sueanne - Queen's Crown Award
sueanne has earned a Queen's Crown award for
earning 5 Cooking Tip icons. Here are her winning
tips:

1. "Squeezing the water out of zucchini is important
for tasty zucchini bread. For great tips on how to
do this":
http://www.familycorner.com/forums/947675-post182.html

2. If you run out of barbecue sauce this is an easy
recipe to use:
http://www.familycorner.com/forums/931073-post160.html

3. To keep the top crisp and the casserole warm
going to a party, place a paper towel over the top
of the dish before wrapping it in foil. The conden-
sation from the hot food will be absorbed by the
towel instead of forming on the foil and dripping back

4. Chicken often contains unslightly dark spots. To
ensure flawless looking poultry soak in salt water for
a few hours. Salt draws out blood leaving it perfectly
white, & it brines the meat.

5. Herbs can be frozen in ziplock bags as long as you
get most of the air out before sealing. Press-and-seal
wrap is also a good way of preserving them in the
freezer.

CHRISTMAS TEA
Does anyone have a recipe for a hot drink that I've heard
called Christmas Tea, however it doesn't actually have "tea"
in it. It's more like a hot punch. I think I recall the ingredients,
but don't remember the amounts to put in. It has red hots, sugar,
water, orange juice, lemon juice, cranberry juice, and I think
cloves. I just can't find the recipe.

HELP WITH TEENAGERS
I am the mother of 4 teenagers (11, 13, 15, &17). We have had
some really bad times; including my children calling the police
on me because they don’t like the rules, and made up lies. It was
investigated and I was found not guilty but it is the whole point
that a teenager would rather lie and get someone into trouble and
not care about their younger siblings than just follow simple rules.

HELP WITH BLENDED FAMILY

has a son that is 5 now but was 2 when we met. Since the

PREPARING MY FAMILY FOR MY SURGERY
I am scheduled for a hysterectomy in just under 6 weeks.
I haven't figured out how/when I am going to tell the kids
about the surgery. I don't want to say anything too soon
because they will worry, and that's unnecessary. Especially
right before Christmas. My oldest is 17 and youngest is 7.
of course, they will get different (age-appropriate) info.

DOES ANYONE ELSE WALK THEIR CAT?
In my city, you are not supposed to let your cat loose. They
should be on a leash or in a run etc. like a dog. No one around
me adheres to that rule, but me. My cat has always gone outside
on a leash in the yard. Lately, there have been problems with
other cats getting him to the end of his rope then attacking. This
has cost us a lot of grief and money for the vet at an average
amount of $150 per visit. I decided that was enough! I am now
taking him for a walk on his leash everyday.
