PLEASE READ! Rules for Personalizing Your Signature Line

Hi Everyone

I would like to address a problem that we are having here at FC concerning personalized signature lines.

It seems that with all of the great creativity floating around here pictures in the siggy lines are getting way out of control.

Here are the rules for personalizing your signature line:

You can have one picture 100 x 100. If it is a tiny bit bigger, we will allow it. Other than that, it will have to be approved by Amanda or me. The maximum is 2 very small picture @ 50 x 50--nothing bigger.

OR

You can have 4 lines of writing.

If you are adding a website to your siggy line, Please do not use leading titles such as " Wow! Take a Look at This!"---It will be removed.
You can use the company title.

You cannot have 4 lines of writing, plus a 100 x 100 picture.

You can have a line or two of writing and a small picture.


Small blinkies are allowed --the maximum is two and they must fall within the size range above.

No ticker tapes that do any sort of counting ---example: weight loss or pregnancy.

Also, please do NOT include your email address in your siggy line! That's for your own privacy and safety. If someone wants your email they can ask you in a Private Message.

Barbszy, DebbieK and I have already contacted several members about their signature lines. Most members happily change their siggys once the rules are explained to them.

However....there are a few member who are changing their siggy line when they are asked to do so, then waiting a few days and coming back with something even bigger. In the future, if anyone is found to be doing this, you will have your signature line privileges revoked.


We are not doing this to be mean, it is just the opposite. Huge pictures and animations greatly reduce the speed for the pages to load on FC. After all, no one likes when the site is slow.

We are asking for everyone to work with us in this matter. If you have any questions, let me know.

Sounds fair to me!
I did enjoy the art work though. Perhaps ther could be a "signature forum" like a business card size where they could display 1 and change it seasonally. It would only be a site where people go to see the art work and it could take time as its their choice, unlike making everyone waite to read the posts.

Hi Vivian! I'm not quite sure what you are referring to here. Can you explain it a little more? We do have a couple of threads in the photo imaging thread where some members are practicing and sharing their work.

Well, My friend has a epage where she has scanned in business cards of people she meets @ craft shows, repair people, etc. So, I was thinking that some of those who have the skills to do these signatures could have their own space to display their signatures. Sorta like their own thread, where we could go and look if we wanted. They could change it for holidays and /or seasons. It would have a set size limit like a small recipe card. Then if we wanted to see the art work we could, but if we didn't want to we didn't. A comprise maybe both can enjoy.

Maybe this would be something that people could use the personal Journal threads for?

Or they could open their own website on a free hosting service (like a blog) and just put a link to it in their sig.

That is a possibility, however wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having a "special" place for any and everyone to display the artwork? Seems easier to have one common place for the tags/ artwork to be displayed with a 3X5" size limit and a limiting the upgrades to seasonal and / or monthly.
Then those of us who don't have the skills to do this can go to one place and view all of them in one place instead of chasing everyone's blog or sites. Sort of a win, win for everyone.

There are several who still haven't changed their signature lines that I have noticed and they are regular posters, even an administrator. When are they going to be contacted? Its frustrating as many people have followed the rules and changed their sig lines as requested.
I gather mine is ok!?! LoL.

The only way we could set something like that up would be to start a thread for pictures and signs BUT there wouldn't be a way for anyone to edit their pictures because only moderators have that capability to go in and edit a post once it has been there for a while.

I do like Barbszy's idea of starting a thread in someone's journal and posting pictures there too.

Please feel free to start a thread for pictures, blinkies....etc., just as long a everyone doesn't get carried away with huge pictures.

The moderators contact people as they see the sig files that are too big. They are allowed a couple of days to respond. If they don't respond, the moderators go in and reduce or remove the image, or edit the sig, etc.

The mods have started keeping track of the members that repeatedly get their sig file change and then later add another large pic. Those who repeatedly offend this rule will have signature priveleges revoked, as you are right, it's NOT fair to those who comply.

Keep in mind, if we don't see it, we don't know about it. So if you see one, please feel free to report it.

As for "even an administrator" as mentioned above, are you referring to me? I am the only administrator here....
