Hosting a birthday party can be exhausting and expensive. In fact, an
average birthday party can cost upwards of $200.00, and that doesn't include
buying a gift for the birthday boy/girl. When planning a party, the host has so
many options ranging from location, to party theme, to games making it
difficult to create the best party possible at an affordable cost.
A solution to the birthday party dilemma is to choose one of the most popular
venues to host a birthday party: the local roller skating center. Last year,
skating centers throughout the country hosted more than 500,000 birthday
parties for kids of all ages. Not only is a skating party fun and energy
packed, but parents love the no mess, no hassle, low cost of hosting this
birthday bash.
Throughout the years, many entertainment venues have continued to
increase the cost of their product, while roller skating has remained an
affordable activity for the entire family and even large groups. The average
admission for skating is typically between $3 and $7 per person with skate
rental less than $3.00. A cost which is more affordable than taking a few
friends to the movies or to other popular entertainment venues; and can be
even be less expensive than throwing a backyard birthday party. When it
comes to birthday parties and special events, skating centers offer various
packages in several price ranges with added benefits like age-appropriate
music, party favors, birthday cake, soft drinks, free skate rental, games and
much more.
Roller skating parties provide an inexpensive, fun way to celebrate your next
birthday. The Roller Skating Association International (RSA) is offering free
downloadable birthday invitations and thank you cards as well as a
personalized e-birthday packet* for each birthday party scheduled at an RSA
skating center in 2004.
Roller skating offers more than a fun birthday party; it's also an effective low-
impact aerobic exercise that kids of all ages and skill levels can enjoy. For
many years, the President's Council on Physical Fitness, as well as the
American Heart Association, have recognized that roller skating is among the
best overall aerobic exercises, involving all the body's muscles, including the
heart. Studies show that skating is equivalent to jogging in terms of calorie
burning and fat reduction; just an hour of vigorous skating can burn up to
590 calories in a 150-pound person.
