It's a classic, the handprint turkey craft. Make this cute little painted turkey with your child each year to track his/her growth. Save them each year to see how much they've grown!
What You Need
1 sheet of orange construction paper
2 sheets of white paper
1 small wiggle eye
acrylic paint in red, orange, yellow, green and brown
paint brushes (can use one, but 5 separate ones are better)
red, orange and brown marker (can use colored pencil or crayon)
white craft or school glue
Place a piece of white paper on the table. Open all paints and pour a quarter size out onto a paint pallet or paper plate.
Note: If you are using just one paint brush, make sure you have a dish of water for rinsing out the brush and a piece of paper towel to blot it on. Using separate paint brushes for each color allows you to work faster so the paint colors won't dry in between color changes.
Have child hold hand up straight and paint each finger generously with a different color. Paint the thum and palm with brown.
Have child press palm and all finger firmly down onto the white paper. Gently press all of the child's fingers to ensure that all of the paint touches the paper. Gently lift straight up and off the paper. Allow the paint to dry completely.
Meanwhile, print out the phrases below using Notepad, Word, Wordpad or similar word processing program, changing the name of the child and year if needed:

I will never be this size again
keep this picture to remember when
Cut out poems, glue first one to the top of the orange construction paper and the second one to the bottom.
Trim the white paper that your turkey is on. Glue on a wiggle eye and draw on a beak and gobbler using orange and red markers. Draw on legs with brown marker.
Glue turkey sheet to the center of the orange construction paper.
