Make Your Own Chili Seasoning Packets
by Amanda Formaro
Do you buy those packets of chili seasoning from the grocery store? Ever wonder how long they've been sitting there? Why buy those packets when you can make your own at home and they taste so much better? Here's a recipe for homemade chili seasoning packets along with a simple recipe for chili.
To make the chili seasoning packets you will need:
For each packet of seasoning:
small bowl
1 tbsp flour
2 tbsp minced onion
1 1/2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp ground cumin
Set out as many bowls as you want. So if you want 5 packets of seasoning mix, set out 5 bowls. The measurements above are for ONE bowl/packet. Place ingredients in the bowl and mix together. Place into a zipper top sandwich bag. Wrap the sandwich bag in foil and label it with a black permanent marker. Store in cool, dark place for up to 6 months.
