Review: Dyson Digital Slim

February 12th, 2013 posted by Amanda Formaro

Dyson is my favorite vacuum, so when I saw the advertisements for the new Digital Slim™ I knew I wanted to try it. My husband is pretty particular about keeping our family car clean and is always running to the car wash to use the vacuums. Well, he doesn’t have to do that anymore! As soon as the Dyson Digital Slim™ arrived, my 20 year old son put it together and tried it out. He headed straight for the car and proceeded to clean the whole thing. It’s lightweight feel makes it easy to operate with one hand so that the other hand is free to move things, adjust draperies, etc. Weighing just 5 pounds, it has a balanced weight distribution for high, low, hard-to-reach and in-between spaces. The light aluminum wand reaches from floor to ceiling and can be detached for up-close tasks. It’s easy to maneuver as well, and with it’s detachable cleaning wand and added attachments, it’s great for getting into crevices, such as down the side of your driver’s seat! It’s also perfect for those pesky cobwebs that gather in the ceiling corners, picking up pet hair along your baseboards, or tackling those dusty draperies. This is a cordless vacuum, so you’ll need to be aware and make sure you put the battery pack onto its charger so it’s ready the next time you want to use it. The charger can be mounted onto the wall for easy access. New battery technology delivers a fade-free 20 minute run time with no loss of suction. I honestly don’t get to use our new cleaning toy that often. My son and my husband have claimed ownership, which frankly, is just fine with me!

Dyson digital motor

Dyson digital motors are engineered to be small and powerful. Using digital pulse technology, they spin at up to 104,000rpm – making the Dyson Digital Slim™ the most powerful cordless vacuum.

New battery technology

A 22.2V nickel manganese cobalt battery pack releases its charge evenly so there is no drop in performance.

Root Cyclone™ technology

Dyson’s patented Root Cyclone™ technology – condensed to fit into the machine – spins dust and dirt out of the air using centrifugal force, so there’s no loss of suction.

Motorized head

The motorized floor tool has an independent 30W motor driving stiff nylon bristles into carpet pile to remove stubborn dirt. A carbon fiber brush bar has anti-static carbon filaments to remove fine dust from hard floors. The Dyson Digital Slim™ retails for $399.99. It is available directly from or from most major retailers.
