You will need:

8 – 10 bread rolls in assorted sizes, shapes and varieties

1 baguette-shaped roll

2 – 3 large bagels

4 small bagels

2 breadsticks

clear acrylic spray

cloth dinner napkin

12″ round basket

527 cement (available in art supply stores)

If you make this project

we’d love to see it! Just send your photos and comments to the editor and it may get published on our Facebook fan page !

Tip

Choose breads in different sizes, shapes (round, knotted, baguette) and varieties (pumpernickel, marble, rye, sesame seeded, poppy seeded). Purchase lower priced, day old baked goods.

Preserving

Air-dry the breads in a warm, dry place until completely dry and hard, about three days. Spray the breads completely with clear acrylic spray to seal them and keep out moisture. Let dry.

Arranging

Place the napkin in the basket. Arrange the preserved breads in the basket until you find an attractive combination (photo). To keep the preserved breads from shifting, glue the individual breads to each other: Carefully lift each piece of bread and apply a small amount of the 527 cement to join each bread to the pieces next to it. You might have to remove the top later of breads to glue the breads beneath; replace and glue the breads in the top layer after the breads in the bottom layer have been glued.
