Pandemic Flu 2009- Some Common Sense Tips On Being Prepared

We have been through several emergencies in the past 8 years with loss of electricity and heat so I've picked up quite a few tips on being prepared for a emergency. With the latest threat with this flu virus I am offerring some things to do to be prepared. Please add your own tips as we go along. I would stress we should not panic but we should use some common sense to be prepared.

Sanitation

Canít say it enough, Wash Your Hands

Use sanitation wipes at stores for wiping your hands and grocery carts.

Keep your fingers out of your mouth

Use wipes to push the buttons on ATM machines or the self serve machines at the grocery stores so that you arenít picking up germs someone else left there before you.

Wash Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Before Eating. I don't know how many times I see people helping themselves to grapes at the store, I personally would make a soap wash solution and dip grapes and berries in it and spray rinse them and allow them to air dry.

Stock Up List-More

Cat Food or food for any other Pet you may have.

Medicines- try to refill your prescription before it runs out for the month and save the extra meds. for emergency. When we had our power outage last year, it affected our pharmacy too.. couldn't run the computers with no power and the whole store was accepting cash only.

Boggz

I see it all the time and what scares me are the Mom's who pop one of them in their childrens mouth and I think of all the people who have touched those fruits and the germs they might have.

I keep a container of antibacterial hand wipes in my car. I've started grabbing one when I go into a store, so I can swipe the handle of the shopping cart or basket.
