How many hours of sleep do you get every night?

Experts say that adults should get 8 hrs. of sleep a night. Are you one of the lucky ones who does just that? Do you believe that you can function with less sleep or are you tired and sluggish for the entire day if you do not get a certain amt. of sleep every day?

What is your secret to a good night's sleep?

It varies for me. I usually get about 6 1/2 hrs. a night but once in a while I get to sleep in for 8 or 9 hrs.

I am like Coll I may be in bed but rarely get more than 5-6 hours of sleep. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning and realize I have not been up to potty or lying there wishing I was asleep it makes me happy. Between bladder and pain hard to stay asleep.

I used to get 7 or 8 hours but since January I just can't sleep. Sometimes I'm up past 2 a.m. I let dh go to bed and tell him I'll just be up a little longer, but a couple of times its been dawn before I could sleep. Dr. gave me meds but I hate to take them. They put me out too long and I feel groggy all day. I'll go several days like that and then I'll crash in the afternoon for a couple of hours. I've tried all the usual remedies but not working. Does give me a LOT of reading time!

I get between eight and ten hours. I had west nile a few years ago and needing more sleep is a after effect. I will have terrible headaches if I don't get enough sleep.

Mondays throught Thursdays I work until 1:30pm, then I usually see clients, except for Mondays. Then, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday I see clients during the afternoon and on Tuesday, I also see a client in the evening. On Mondays, I have 3 classes, back-to-back. They don't end until 10pm. It takes me an hour and a half to 2 hours to wind down from all that before I can go to sleep. Then, I have to get up at 6am to do it all over again. Tuesdays, I have no classes, but I do have a client at 6pm. This is an early night since I get home at 8pm. Wednesdays I have work, clients, and 1 class, which ends at 7pm, so I get home about 7:30pm, another early night. Thursdays are another long day with work, clients, and then a class that doesn't end until 10pm. I am not mentioning the reports I have to write, the treatment notes on the clients that I have to write, the studying that I have to do, the papers I have to write and then there is laundry, getting water, doing dishes, cooking, eating, taking a shower, and so on. So, with all the stress and the hours, I get about 5-7 hours sleep, depending on the night. Weekends, I allow myself the luxury of sleeping in. Unfortunately, my body awakens at its normal weekday time. Bummer.
