The past few years have found me never getting 8 hrs of sleep........I am ALWAYS awake 3 or 4 times a night, never sleep straight through. Now that I work, after being a stay at home mom for 17 years, I seriously feel tired most days, since I just don't sleep good.

I get 6 1/2 hrs of sleep at night, get up with dd1 and when she leaves for school at 7am I lay down on the couch for an hour or so until dd2 wakes up. I don't get enough sleep with having untreated sleep apnea but if I went to bed earlier I wouldn't get to spend any one on one time with DH.

I sleep 6-8 hours every night. I can't function if I don't get enough sleep and I won't feel good either.

Sometimes I fall asleep in the evening while watching TV.

Post Sleep How Much is enough...

Good Question, and thanks for bring it up too.
As you all may have noticed from our poll answers we all have different patterns and amounts of required needs to survive the day/night.

Like many of you, depending on my health / routine or whether I am

house chores/office work depends greatly on how much I get the night before. Another contributor to my sleep behavior is what I / before , and what the / is doing.

Mainly though I keep to a set pattern between 9:30 PM and 10:30 PM (PST/PDT) and waking between 5:45 AM and 6:30 AM. If I am not feeling healthy I will sometimes take an afternoon when I can or go to between 7 PM and 8:30 PM depending on whether I am battling the "common" cold or flu.

I am a night person and usually stay up to watch David Letterman and Craig Ferguson. If I do, then I don't get to bed until almost 2am. My alarm goes off at 6am. Not sure what I'll do now that I don't have to go to work anymore.

I usually get 5-8 but some times I can take a nap on the couch while watching tv, usually to miss the last 15 mins of the show! So in that case I'd get more.

I normally get 3-4 hours a night. Some of that is because I don't go to bed before 1-2 or 3am; some because I seem to wake every 4 hours regardless of when I try to go to bed.
I will doze on the couch sometimes-sometimes in front of the computer too..LOL-that's usually when I'm extremely tired because I may not have gotten even 3 hours sleep for a couple of nights.
I have to admit, there are days when I know I could sleep 6 hours or more if I stayed on the couch-when I fall asleep on the couch and wake up to go to bed I can't go back to sleep for a couple of hours.
When my kids were younger, I'd come home from work and doze for about 20 min. in my chair then fix them dinner-that usually recharged me for an evening with the girls.

To bed at 10:00/11:00pm up by 3:00/4:00am. I'm looking forward to Retirement. It is funny when I tell my friends I can't wait to sleep in on Saturday and I am up at 5:00am. Hey that is an extra 1 or 2 hours wouldn't you call that sleeping in.. Besides I might miss something if I'm sleeping.
