What information for my resume?

I have a friend that is looking for a job, and she has worked so many jobs over the years she asked me what did I think about not listing them all? She thought too many might look as bad as not having worked for several years like some because they took time off to raise their family.

I went searching around to see what professionals advise on that because I had no clue. Here is some interesting reading I found on the matter and thought it may be useful to others also.

Do You Have to Include All Jobs on a Job Application?

What is your opinion on the subject?

I've heard about highlighting the jobs that fit with the experience required for the job you are applying but to also lump together the unrelated jobs so you don't have huge gaps. Do to bank mergers I received pay checks from 4 banks over 7 yrs to list the companies it would look like I was job hopping. I left the bank for a receptionist position that lasted 6 month, worked part time in a grocery for 1 month when I left for a full time seasonal management job which I over lapped a month at when I started in the office job. So to save space I include that year into the office manager listing.

1982-1989 full time banking- customer service, teller work
1989-1999 full time office manager
1991-1994 part-time restaurant work- cashier, kitchen clean up
1996-2015 part-time direct sales consultant
