I have had female problems since I was a teen. I got pregnant with my first 2 children on B/C pills.

Seems B/C pills work great for me as a hormone therapy just not for actual birth control! I had my tubes cut, tied and sautered after my youngest was born so I only use B/C pills as hormone therapy.

I have taken just about every pill out there! I also used the Ortho Evra Patches for 9 months. At first, I LOVED the patches. But they only really helped for the first 2-3 months.

I have taken the new B/C pill, Yasmin, for just over 6 (or 7 ??) months. I LOVE it! I don't have the weight gain that I suffered with 99% of the other B/C pills I tried over the years.

In fact, I have lost 12 lbs since starting on the Yasmin!! (unfortunately, I have a lot more it could help me lose!!)

I read on either WebMD or Mayo Health Website that there is evidence that Yasmin actually helps with weight loss as well as not increasing your apetite like so many of the B/C pills out there.

I asked my OB/GYN about the weight loss thing. She said that, yes, preliminary studies do show that women put on Yasmin actually lose weight as their bodies get adjusted and leveled out on it. BUT, additional studies are needed before the company that makes Yasmin can start "advertising" that fact.

(I'm wondering if it curbs your cravings enough that you don't go
on craving binges - or go on fewer binges and that is the reason for the weight loss)

You might want to talk to your doctor about the Yasmin. Doesn't hurt to ask if he/she thinks it might work better for you!

Good to hear about that Yasmin - this is my 2nd month on it. I can say that I'm not as weepy being on it. My GP doctor said my GYNO probably put me on it due to my breast fibroids.

So I've only heard good things.

The patch, I think I'd forget to remove it!

I found a free trial of the Nuva Ring. I may take it to my dr. I have 3 children, but before I got married I never used birth control. I really hate the idea of having to take a pill every day, but the thought of a shot or implant scares me even more. I know that this sounds like I am making an uneducated decision. I am really sick of break though periods with Mircette and the bloating/constipation is really unbearable. Kee; your opinoins coming! Thanks!

I have had none of those problems with the Yasmin!!

When my doctor started me on the Yasmin, she gave me a complimentary "starter pack". It contained a three month's supply of Yasmin along with an information packet. So, I didn't have to start paying for the Yasmin until the 4th month.

My drs nurses always give me sample packs. There was this one nice one that would give me like 6 packs when I didn't have insurance!!! That was handy!!!

I really like this Yasmin too!!!

Can I recommend something.
I recommend staying away from Ortho Nova 777. I am very serious. I used it for two years. I started to have panic attacks and I could feel my hormones going into highs and lows which on occasion caused very violent mood swings. Then would you beleive I started having gallbladder problems and had it removed. I did some reading and Ortho Nova 777 actually said in the warnings that it may cause damage to your gallbladder. Then, I will add to all that with, I am now pregnant and have been having problems with my uteren lining forming then shedding and now I am on a hormone treatment for that. My sister-in-law and my best friend both had problems on it also. As for what to suggest I know I am staying away from pills. I was a very healthy 28yr old until last year when everything went crazy. I think I will just get my tubes tied. three kids are all the blessing I need.

Thanks!
