Doe perfume aroma change when you go through menopause?

I heard a man at the perfume counter say that his wife could no longer wear her favorite perfume since she went through menopause. He said something about her body chemistry doesn't work with her old perfume now. So, she is having problems finding a perfume with will go with her new body chemistry. Has anyone else ever herd of this?

Interesting question DeBora, I just Googled it lol, and here is what I got. I notice perfume seems to smell different on me if my skin is dry and it often is.

'Fragrance tends to last longer on oilier skins, so scents tend to evaporate quicker from dry skin,' He adds that stress, medication and hormonal changes, including pregnancy and the menopause, can also affect how a fragrance smells on you. 'Avoid testing a fragrance for several days if you've eaten spicy foods or garlic, unless these foods are a regular part of your diet,' he also advises. Otherwise you won't get a true sense of how a fragrance smells.

I have never heard of this but I don't have a favorite perfume. I like a variety. People tend to blame menopause on things that don't make sense.

I was so curious when this man said that his wife's perfume smelled different since she went through menopause. I had never heard of this. I knew that oily skin can make the perfume last longer. I also know that using deodorant soap can deodorize perfume. But, hormone changes is something that is new to me.

Perfume reacts to your body chemistry. That is why one perfume can smell different on different people.
After menopause your body chemistry is different. There have been hormonal changes and these changes have changed your body chemistry.
