Thanks Abear and DeBora18 too for the answer about Tasso.
Sounds like the salt pork we use in collards. Never thought to try it with cabbage. Used to just put oil in the cabbage but I don't do that anymore. Now I'll have to try 'smothered cabbage' when I get the chance.

had cheeseburgers and fries tonight. Had really planned on spaghetti or meatloaf, but I brough home brats for my sil and he wanted to grill hamburgers and brats instead so that's what we did---now if I could get him to use less lighter fluid, everything always tastes of lighter fluid when he grills. LOL

Had leftover chicken from yesterday. Cooked cauliflower & corn on the cob. Made a batch of pizzelles today using sef rising cake flour instead. Added some ground raisins & margarine instead of oil. Was surprised how good they came and the raisins were a good touch. Mom will be here Wednesday so will bake a cake too tomorrow. So far the weather up north looks good for traveling, no snow. Think she will be getting away just in time.

Abear, I'm sorry to hear that the Bad Dinner Fairy is making the rounds again....STAY AWAY, FAIRY!!! (She knows where I live, too....)

With that in mind I am making a dinner that is impossible to screw up: Swiss Chicken Melt with rice. So there, Bad Dinner Fairy!

Am I tempting fate here or WHAT!

Tonight's supper is going to be meatloaf, mashed potatoes and salad.....or fresh veggies with FF Ranch dressing for dipping.

dinner tonite

Tonite's dinner starts in a few minutes and will be a process... I am making ginger-soy shrimp that needs to be marinaded for the day... then will do hot snowpeas and spinach stir-fry later, and either haddock or chicken thighs (any yummy hints for either other than stuffed haddock?

sandieluvsbears, I haven't even begun to put away my Christmas decorations. I've got a few errands to do before I head out to Texas to see my dd and dgd. I'll be staying the night, so poor hubby is on his own for dinner.

Have a great day everyone!

Oh, my goodness! I feel like I've just gained ten pounds reading the last few pages of this thread! Everything sounds yummy. Tonight for dinner, we are having Chef's salad and Swiss cheese bread. Recipe for the bread is:

Hi Everyone,

Dinner tonight is for sure going to be the london broil with the bbq sauce, twice baked potato's and some kind of veggie.

Sueanne your pizzelles look wonderful! My mil makes them only at xmas time and they are so thin and crispy you can almost see through them. She uses anise to flavor them but she uses so little you can just taste a hint of it and they are incredible!

I hope that everyone has a great day!!!
