I don't know why they call it that around here......
You get out a heavy pot, put in a little oil (I spray it generously with Pam instead) add a chopped onion and about half of a bell pepper, chopped and a piece of tasso sliced up (I'm using turkey tasso). Cook it until the onion is almost done. Then add chopped cabbage (I am using a large head of cabbage) and just enough water to keep everything from sticking to the bottom of the pot. I start with only about 1/2 cup water as you can add more if you need to. Stir it well...to mix the onion, bell pepper & tasso in with the cabbage. Then just cook it until the cabbage is done.
This is my DH & FIL's favorite way to eat cabbage, I can take it or leave it......this time I am just going to eat my share from the head of cabbage that I will chop and serve as just raw cabbage.

Couldn't find that pork roast in the freezer, but came across a beef roast so will fix it. Got out the drive and to the grocery, but didn't get any yellow squash or zucchini; they wanted $1.69 a pound for it! Too high for me! Some steamed broccoli and baby carrots instead.
On the way out I saw something laying off the side of the road so stopped and got out; a bottle of wine; unopened, still sealed! Somebody probably got out of their car in the deep snow and it fell out and got buried in that 24-30 inches of snow we had. Since I have no idea who I just got a bottle of wine for New Year's Eve! Wasn't that wierd!
Decided on a chocolate chunk pecan pie for dessert; I still have to get together and get up and bake it!
Have a good time to all that are going out and please have a designated driver for the night if you are going to party!

sandieluvsbears, you crack me up! Have fun not cooking and eating Chinese! I only wished we had a decent Chinese food restaurant here.
I couldn't decide what to fix tomorrow besides blackeyed peas and that pork roast sounds wonderful. I have to go to the store today anyway, so I think I'll pick me up one. I can't decide what sides to make as of yet.
momofjems, those eggs benedict sound wonderful. I may just treat myself to some for breakfast.
I big ol welcome NEAVON12! I notice that you're from my home state of Texas.

Hello everybody and Happy new Year!!!
Thought I would go ahead and subscribe to the new thread.
Dinner tonight is gonna be all kinds of stuff. We are headed over to my friend's house, who we always spend New Year's Eve with..............I am taking over a platter of chicken salad sandwiches. She has all kinds of good stuff for us to eat, from all kinds of dips and chips, to other finger sandwiches, one of which is pineapple and cream cheese sandwiches. Never had those, so I can't wait to try them. Her mom makes a crockpot of sloppy joes. She said she was making dreamsicle punch too............Sounds so yummy!!!
We will probably go to my parent's house tomorrow.
Well hope you all have a safe night!!!
Take care!!!

Whats for dinner-Jan
Tonites dinner will be "junk" food, TGIF potato skins, and another TGIF but forgot what it is, Cheeseburger with Bacon, for Judy, Meatball Sub for me, Spaghettios for Steven, Potato Chips with dip, soda and later either a wine cooler for me or a bit of my wine I got for Christmas.
Happy New Year all and I pray it is a great year for all. God bless

For dinner tonight we are having chicken fajitas, tortillas, tomatoes, lettuce, rice and beans. I will probably start cooking now.

Tonight's dinner will be pork chops, Polish sauerkraut, applesauce, and roasted potatoes. On the side, honey wheat bread.
Enjoying the beautiful, WARM weather here! The kids are outside running around and having fun. DH and big DS got the outside lights down while the weather was nice. I am not "undecorating" the house until after next weekend. I always leave it up for the kids' birthday party.
