Charlotte wonderful news on the new baby

Norma poor Elvira, she is having a really rough time,of course I will pray for her. Good job on the further decluttering. my gas is fine but the electric will be a higher. I have the Christmas tree on all the time especially this year as we had no sun during the whole time.

Roberta cheers to your nephew & his wife. Hunter is sounding like so much fun. I envy you, they grow so fast

Iíve been a lot like Jean , staying home . It cold & damp out which is bad for me but it is cheaper. Dh runs to the store but is wonderful only getting what is on the list. I signed up for Mrs. Frugalwoods January challenge. Fun to see the new kids on the block

Went grocery shopping today was able to hit some good deal on b1g1 offers.
Saved $70.96 on breakfast biscuits, ham slices, chicken, fish fillets, frozen veggies, sweet bell peppers. Tomatoes, zucchini, toilet paper, were on sale too. Will go back for more chicken before the b1g1 sale is over

Good morning all!!

Meadow, it is always a pleasure when you are able to be here. I shop the clearance sections first at our stores always. Last week I was getting something at the deli at one store, and looked at their produce clearance. They package a couple of items together for about $1.50. I got 3/4 head of lettuce and huge red bell pepper that had a quarter-sized soft spot on it for $1.69. I also shop the meat and cheese ends. Meat ends are usually turkey which is always good, but I have gotten roast beef ends several times. I like to take them, and put them under gravy and over toast for hot roast beef/turkey sandwiches.

Roberta, Elvia's specialist is in a different state, at the Univ. of PA. They are still keeping her to make sure the Lasix isn't interfering with her other meds or doing some damage in a different area. She sounded so much better last night when I spoke with her. Said she lost 8 lbs. in a 24 hour period. I told her I want those meds, for about 10 days - that I would be really thin by then.

I totally understand filling the recycling cans. We have small, 33-gallon ones, but I have 4 of them, and sometimes fill them all. And, I still have too much.

Sueanne, sounds like there will be some tasty meals in your house.

Colleen, I will be staying in tomorrow, that's for sure. We are supposed to get a 2nd snowfall tonight and throughout tomorrow. We got a good coating overnight here. So it should be interesting.

Better go for now. Have to put lunch together.

Take care all!! Norma

Good morning!
I had a few minutes, so I thought I would check in. Looks like everyone has been doing a great job of staying frugal.
I've been staying busy, that's for sure! After 20 years in the same position with my company, I took a promotion in November. I've been hopping ever since! There is so much to learn and so much to do! I took some of my old job duties with me too, so there is never a dull moment. It's a small increase in pay, but every bit helps, so I'll take it.
Paul and I are trying to get back to more meal planning again. We had really gotten away from it for a couple of months there, but with the holidays over, it's time to get back to it. I cherry picked a couple of deals at the grocery store last night, and prepped a double batch of meatloaf to pop in the oven tonight (hamburger was one of the items I cherry picked). Paul has the kids this weekend, so it will be nice to have a meal all ready to bake. We'll add mashed potatoes with it, and there will be leftovers for tomorrow. We have our meal plan worked out for next week, and a very short grocery list for Sunday.
Oh, Norma, I saw that you commented on my story on our company's web site--the story about the annual Christmas party my girlfriends and I have. Thank you very much!! That really meant a lot to me that you did that!
I'll try to check in again soon. I hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Happy Friday. Working on paying off my medical bills from my surgery in May. Almost have them taken care of. Also finishing off paying back my savings account for the money I took out to pay for the new heat pump. Trying to get the savings account back up to were it was.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Good morning all!!

Roberta, are those deals you got, or coupons that are out there? Your post was really short.

Charlotte, there are many money-sucking opportunities for life out there to zap your savings accounts. Glad to hear you are getting it all back together. Are you having any snow?

Chris, sounds like you are just moving ahead in your career. Are you still taking on any of those small writing jobs you had been?

Meal planning has sorta fallen off my radar. Only because I always seem to have more leftovers than I think I will - or maybe I am just eating less and that is why I have more left over. I am not wasting much, if any, and am learning to just buy less, unless it can be frozen.

You are welcome about commenting on your article. I do it from love, but also if it gets you any brownie points at work, I believe I should do it, to support you.

I went to the bank after work last night. Most Fridays I don't get to do this because of getting out at 6 and the bank is closed then. Glad I did because it is snowing and blowing here. The weather report says we are getting an inch an hour and will until about noon.

The dog next door got out, and she looked like she was loving every bit of it.

My contract with the realtor doesn't end until the end of the month. Now that he knows he can get his stuff, he might work a little harder to get someone in here or lose commission when it does sell.

Elvia is still in the hospital. They are still monitoring her. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Went through a ton of paperwork last night. So much of it recipes and crochet stuff from the internet. A lot got tossed. Now that I know how to make basic bread, and I now understand what the baker up in New Hampshire was talking about when he said he puts the leftover cooked cereal in his bread and rolls for the rest of the day, I can do so much more all by myself.

I tried the oatmeal in a jar - just oatmeal, milk and some brown sugar. Put it in the fridge overnight and then eat the next morning. Not my kind of thing. So I popped it in microwave and it cooked so much faster.

There was some leftover which I incorporated into a loaf of whole wheat bread, making it whole wheat and oatmeal bread. It turned out perfectly. So now I have one more little block of knowledge about how to do this.

Not much else going on. I am now on my 6th hat, and will be done before lunchtime with that.

Better go for now.

Take care all!! Norma

Sorry about that. Those were items I picked up on clearance yesterday. The chips have a shelf life well into 2018. I picked up 15 bags in different types/flavors to share with family. One lady just picked up a full case and put it in her cart and kept on moving, lol. I'm sure they didn't last long. The bagger asked me if there were more, which at that time they would have been. So I told him of the 2 locations in the store as the Hershey & Nestle bags weren't in the same spots.

I did a gas point survey on the 4 family accounts so that will gain us $7 in fuel savings for Feb today as well as pay bills online.

My oldest sister and her DH are in town for the weekend. We had dinner at my Mom's and watched a movie she had picked up at RedBox. "Florence Foster Jenkins" which was a true story of a music supporter/lover in 1944.

Picked up a few things at Goodwill today that I liked. Bought a cute cookie pan with six different Xmas cutout designs that were a nice size. Can even turn it over and make designs on top of rolls, biscuits or bread. Found the rolling pin I have been looking for rolling over cookie dough or home made noodles. There was a lot to chose from for collectors.
