What Did You Do Frugal~January 2015

For encouragement in frugal ways--large and small--look no further. This is where we share helpful hints for stretching our money, saving time and making sure we don't waste resources.

Remember, "frugal" does not mean "don't spend money!" It means "be wise with what you spend!"

What Did YOU Do Frugal Today?

Welcome to 2015

Here is hoping that we all have a good year.

Going into 2015, gas prices are at the lowest they've been in many years which helps us save money to spend in other places like our pantry, getting repairs done on our home, etc. just a little bit helps a lot.

Happy New Year To All My Frugal Friends!

Happy New Year to Everyone!

Thanks Anna for starting this shiny new thread, and also for all your moderator duties over the years.

How are you and David feeling now?

I am doing ok, my cold is taking a while to clear up, but I am still well enough to declutter.

My decluttering of my wardrobe is now complete and I have very few clothes left. After having weighed myself this morning I will not be buying any new clothes until I have shifted about 42 pounds.

Task for today is to declutter my bedside cabinet and chest of drawers and then this should be the bedrooms completed.

Next will be the kitchen carousel and kitchen drawer of doom. Lol!

It is a dull and murky day today, it is warmer but i prefer the chillier brighter days.

I wish you all a good New Year's Day.

Take care.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wishing you all much health, happiness, and financial stability in this new year.

SUEANNE - that's a pretty plant stand

LIZ - I have a couple of those 'drawers of doom' in my kitchen. I was just thinking this morning - that I will hate to tackle them.
Sounds like you have really been making good progress.

Have a great day all.

Happy New Year.

Heading to Longwood Gardens to see the flowers this morning with my daughters. Need to figure out what I am going to make for dinner. It will be something to do with leftover turkey.

Have a wonderful day.

I too have a "kitchen drawer of doom", I'm always afraid of being pulled in! I need to work on making an organizer from things around the house for the drawer so all the pens & pencils are handy and corral the rest.

I made a big batch of chili and ham & beans yesterday. I had the ham & beans cooking overnight in the crock pot. Will eat on half and freeze the rest.

Happy New Year everyone.

Yes, I had 'closets of doom' that have been relieved of their extraneous weight, still more to go, which clothes to make new things with? To mend with? To collect buttons off of...dh even fixed the lights inside them so we can see now

Went to bed early last night and woke with a bed backache, but feeling more energized..and it is actually sunny outside...will try to get the lights down today.

Glad for those on here feeling better and still praying for those moving slower due to illnesses.

Charlotte, Those gardens are on my bucket list, enjoy the day!

Happy New Year! I hope 2015 brings us all health and happiness!

I for one am so glad to see 2014 end. It was the worst year my family has been through. The difficulties we went through did make me realize what's really important and what I really want my life to be. I've been working on making some changes and am feeling better than I have in a long time.

On the frugal front, I've gotten my chest freezer up and running again after our move. I've been doing a lot of extra cooking to get it filled up again. Today's plans include getting the pantry properly organized and getting an inventory done and going through the sales papers to see if there are any good deals to get the stockpile growing again. I'm also planning on sitting down and working up a new budget with all of the recent changes (DH's reduced salary, reduced mortgage payment, etc.). I've decided to go back to working part-time so I need to make sure that's possible first.

This weekend I'm planning on getting my craft supplies unpacked so I can get crafting again. I've got lots of projects pinned on Pinterest and can't wait to get started!

I'm really looking forward to reconnecting with you wonderful group of ladies!

I am going to work on my bedroom today. I have not taken the time to organize it. It is a terrible mess.

I am going to look into bartending one night a week. We don't have bar fights here. I will check into it. Tips run $150 a night. This is a private club not a public bar. Maybe that makes a difference? What is so funny, I don't drink now at all with a ulcer. I do keep wine on hand to cook with. Of course I always have cheap vodka in the house for tinctures. I have no clue how to mix drinks. I don't know that this town is so cosmo that I would need to know more than a shot of Jack in a Pepsi. I will find out.

Susanne will you spray paint the plant stand? I am so hooked on the deep aqua colors.
Don't stay were you are tolerated, go where you are celebrated!
