What Did You Do Frugal Today~November 2014

For encouragement in frugal ways--large and small--look no further. This is where we share helpful hints for stretching our money, saving time and making sure we don't waste resources.

Remember, "frugal" does not mean "don't spend money!" It means "be wise with what you spend!"

Hi everyone,

My gosh, I cannot believe that it is November 1 already! I guess I am the first poster on here, seems strange that no one else has posted today.

Someone asked me about the new meds, sorry I can't remember who. I find that they are pretty good for the all over chronic pain, lessening it a bit, but for my back and hips, nothing touches them. I really wish I could find a magic potion to take. It has been so long that I have had a really bad back, I'm sure dh must get tired of dealing with it too, but he is a saint, he never complains about it, always asks me how I am feeling, and does more than his share of chores everyday.

We just went to WM, my gosh it was so busy, and I think everyone there was on a sugar high. Three people banged into my scooter, and I am not hard to see, LOL. We both needed to get some new undies and a few other doodads. I have found a good, reasonable priced bra for @15.00. This is the second time I have bought them and I really like the fit. The name is Genie, I would recommend them. Also got 4 pair of underwear at [email protected]$14.00, kind I like with a bit of stretch in them, "cupid" is the name of them. Dh did get all of his stuff and we both got a new pair of jeans for the season for $17.00 on sale from $22.50.

Went down to the lobby last night to see the trick & treaters, there were a bout 30 kids and about 10 of the residents down there. It was fun, and I have made good pals with two of the ladies who are very kind, they want to look after me, and one of them will be 90 next month, doesn't even wear glasses, and doesn't take any meds, and has nothing wrong with her, plus she is really with it, has a good sense of humour. Last night, while talking about our families, she giggled and said her oldest is 66, just think she says both him & me get the old age pension.

Not much going on here, having Western egg sandwiches and fries for dinner.

Good afternoon all!!

I again got caught by Anna closing the thread right before my post posted.

Roberta, that is a good plan to pay down as much as possible on that 0% card and then transferring it to another one right before they start charging interest.

Connie, sorry you didn't get to many kids.

Cheryl, sorry you didn't as many as normal, but as they grow up, the like parties better than getting candy on the streets.

Laurie, sorry to hear that your dh fell of a ladder. Glad nothing is injured but his ego. One of my salesreps wrote a report this week and the only thing on it was that he had just come back from the hospital. He had fallen off a ladder and broken his arm.

Charlotte, ham with potatoes and string beans sounds very warming, and comfy. I like cooking on weekends too.

I stopped at BJ's on the way home for Nexium using the $5 off store coupon from last week's cashier and a $5 manufacturer's coupon that will be in tomorrow's papers. I now have enough for 6 months, and it does expire. So from now on, I will be able to cherry pick it when the price is the best.

I also got breaded cod, enough for 4 meals for $12. So I will have some for dinner this evening, with broccoli and a baked potato.

Better go for now and get some Saturday chores done.

Take care all!! Norma

Good evening.

JOANNE - that is so cool on your 90 yr. old friend. She sounds like a pip! Good deals at WM. I heard that they were running sales, and today is kind of like their Black Friday! Trying to get the sales before the rush.

CAU - I love the idea of making your own sausage. I found a decent recipe today (except I will leave out sage). I hate sage. It was for 2 lbs. of ground pork. I will definitely going back and getting some to make my own. LOVE this idea - so much cheaper than sausage.

NORMA - how did class go?

It has been a fairly quiet day here. Just decided to take one off! LOL Been playing on computer, talked to both brothers making some plans for next weekend, just doing odds and ends.
Made a pot of chili. Sure did taste good on a blustery day.

It's beautiful and sunny, but never got past the 40's.
Have a great evening.

Hello ladies! I'm just stopping by for a quick hello. I'm taking a break from packing. This time next week I'll be in my new house! I cannot wait. The movers will be here Thursday morning to pack up the house. Thursday afternoon Stanley Steemer will be here cleaning the carpets once the house is empty.

We'll be signing papers for the sale of this house on Thursday afternoon and moving into our new house on Friday afternoon. I am NEVER doing this again! I have to keep reminding myself how nice it will be to be living in a smaller, less expensive house and having dh home from work sooner!

We didn't get any trick-or-treaters last night. Good thing I didn't buy any candy.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I probably won't post again until after the move.

Not getting notices, I guess I need to post something!

Making veggie beef soup with the canned veggie soup I made. I added hamburger and some potatoes to it to make it a little heartier.

Cheryl, This will probably be a weird question for you. What do you do with your potato peels, do you not let them go to waste and use them up somehow?

I'm trying to think outside the box on things so I'm not so wasteful.
