Oh and Roberta, thanks for the info on how to do the custard in the microwave.
Cheryl, funny about that 'major award' is that the mom provided most of the answers to that crossword puzzle he won the leg lamp for!

Good morning. My laptop died needed more repairs than it was worth so I am using the desktop from work. Very thankful I have it to use! Now I get to remember how to use windows 8.

Ellen that scarf is beautiful.

Afternoon all,

Ellen, I can understand your worries as I would be the same, prayers being said for your peace of mind and for a safe trip for your hubby tomorrow.

Thanks girls for the advice on gifts. I am thinking of making sweets and homemade biscuits and cakes. Thinking of it, it will be very nice for mum and dad as they no longer have homemade cake since mum's stroke.

For my 13 year old neice I will buy her some small girly bits, plus a warm hat as she is shaving her head in December to raise funds for the cancer society. Talk about the coldest time of year!

Connie, oh dear about your laptop, must be pc gremlins about what with Norma having pc problems too.

Finding it hard to get going. Have done the laundry, will do the hoovering next.

Take care all.

Liz for your parents you could give a small baked item with handmade coupons for monthly baked treats. Or plan it out bake and stock the freezer a couple times next year with baked treats.

Morning all, the rain turned to snow ice pellets when I was in Kroger. Fierce wind garbage cans all blown around all the way home. The snow is sticking I donít think we are due to much but beware Cheryl, Anna & all east of Illinois it is coming. All shopping done, should not need anything until next week. Now I need to start baking breads & pies. Stay warm all

Frugals lately, dd2 needed to go into town yesterday to sign up 6yo dgs for youth basketball this season so I rode along. We stopped at a hardware store where I got a canvas cooler cover I needed. Then to Family Dollar, Rite Aid and Vons were I got a few small items. She also dropped off two boxes of goods at a thrift store. Shouldn't need to buy anything else this week. I will cook the turkey and ham here at my house and slice and take with me Thursday, dd2 will make the sides.

Dd and dsil had stored some items here when they moved a few months ago, they came and picked up the last of it this weekend. While dsil was here I got him to bring in bags of wood pellets for my stove from the storage container, 40 lb, bags and hard for me to try to maneuver. So glad my kids are willing to help (usually) if I need it.

Revised my freezer/cupboard list so I don't let anything go unused or out of date. Working on keeping my electric bill down, I just paid it a couple days ago, only $44.05, yeah. Last month was similar but we got another $40 seasonal credit (not sure why but I'll take it), only had to pay $16 last month.

I'm usually lazy and stay up late and then sleep in so by the time I get up no heat is needed in the morning. This morning I was up at 7am so did have the heat on for a couple hours as it was about 42 when I got up (outside). That's the 4th time I've needed heat this month. It is supposed to be 75 on Thanksgiving Day. Cheryl you said you were having the coldest November ever, I think this is one of our warmest.

Okay off to have an early lunch of leftover pizza. I hope everyone has an enjoyable week and lovely Thanksgiving.

Hey Jackie, Sounds like family and fun go hand in hand. We are doing the turkey for Thanksgiving and this Christmas a ham, a first for me!

Earlier I posted about dh and the chainsaw, well he took a look at that weather report Cau and said he was headed up to camp today to get a load stored at the camp and then bringing home a second load tomorrow. When he goes up for deer season this weekend, he will bring the stored load home. I am glad he is doing it over two days and then won't be tired and have an accident. Also, the good weather today should help. Nothing worse than moving logs around in the wet and cold and snow.

CAU - they say snow flurries should hit later today. The wind is absolutely horrid!!!!!
40 mph with 50mph gusts. It has dropped 21* in the past few hours.
Have fun baking!!!!!

JACKI - glad all is going well there. Wish we were having the 'warmest'!!
How is your MIL? Are you still close?

NORMA - YAY!!!!

ELLEN - we are having both ham and turkey here for T-day. Of course there will be lots that ends up in freezer. Last couple years we have had roast for Christmas.
