What Did You Do Frugal Today Section 11

Just checking in on my frugal friends to say Hello.

Again I have not been overly frugal. Nor unfrugal.

My kids start back to school on the 29th. I have to school shop for clothing for them. Right now, I wish the school would go to uniforms! It would make things so much easier.

Chris, that is so cool that you are on your way to teaching. I always thought a good teacher was one that tried to help the students that seemd that they didn't care about school. I had an english teacher like that in high school. Even if the student acted up in class, and didn't pay attention. She would not yell at them. She would just ask them to sit and be quiet at the back of the class. And wait after class. It was not a scolding they were getting after class it was extra help!! Almost as if she knew they were acting the way they were due to not understanding, and not just pure badness!

I am so gabby today. I need to get my day started here. I need to make a detailed grocery list.And pay some bills.(yuck).

Not doing much of anything today. Have to do wash so it'll be cold water wash.

Barb---I also forget about produce in the frig. I somehow forget it's there.

Good Morning Everyone

Yay! It's finally Friday and the end of the work week is in sight!

So glad you posted "Pay Some Bill" I had one in my book bag and almost forgot to mail it, now it's safely sitting in the mail box for the mailman to pick up.

Frugal Today:

Hung clothes out to dry this morning. It's supposed to be 93 degrees maybe rain, I hope not at least not till tonight!

Frugal Yesterday: Instead of stopping at the store after work, hungry and buy things I normally wouldn't I went to CVS and bought just the trash bags I needed and of course used my CVS card.

Dinner last night was the leftover tuna casserole as dh ate dinner with his mother. I also had a salad with the tomatoes from our garden, YUM!

Gas prices this morning coming in at 8am was $2.55 per gallon for regular. Ugh! Thank goodness I have 3/4 of a tank of gas and dh says fill up now instead of letting it get low. The truck goes in the shop tommorow for yearly mtnc. oil changed, filter and spark plugs. Spark plugs were $22.00 at the dealership, we couldn't find the dang things anywhere else.

Sales are slow this week at the mall, probably the high price of gas is making folks keep their money in their wallets. Just have to hang in there and hope the prices go down. A lady who belongs to my soap board is at the Ohio State Fair and she said sales were slow there too, said even the candy shop next to her was doing poor.

Frugal today is picking up library books that I reserved. I reserved a book called Cheapskate Monthly Tips that I'm looking forward to reading. Will let you know how it is. Other than that, just staying away from the stores and keeping cool. Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

Futureteacher, when does your school begin and when is the expected time of your graduation?

DeBora--Graduation for me will depend on when the classes I have left are offered, but after block/student teaching (each take 1 semester), I'm probably looking at Spring 07. Still a ways off, but a lot closer than I was 5 years ago! This semester starts for me on Aug. 22, so not much time left! Good luck to you on the job at school!

Your school begins the same day as mine. I have friends who are education majors. I've heard them talk about this 'block.' I know that your major is a very different ball game than mine. Good luck!

WOOHOO the "other" grocery store did double my coupons so I got the 10 cans of Campbells Tomatoe & Chick Noodle for $.40 a can instead of the $.89 regular price. Huge savings there.

Boy I'm glad I filled up the van yesterday as this morning all the gas stations in town jumped their prices $.20 up to $2.55.

One of the dogs left me a messy present on the livingroom carpet this afternoon so I shampooed the carpet real quick.

The school finally called today and they are giving us 50% financial aid and my parents are going to pay the rest so DD1 can stay at the same school this year. And YES uniforms are so much cheaper than having to buy other "dressier" clothes for school. The jumpiers & pants have 4 inch hems for letting down and double buttons for expanding waists so the girls can wear them for 2 years or more.

We are going to a free musical concert at the park tonight it is the 10 yr anniversary of the group "Music Warehouse". Has 180 local children in the production. DD1 wants to try out for it next summer. I put juice boxes and grapes in the freezer for 30 minutes before we go so they will be slushy to take along in the insulated bag.
