Hey all. I haven't been checking in lately, court time here in the law office so I have some catching up to do.
I know this is off topic but would you all please say a little prayer for my mom? Tuesday night she went into congestive heart failure and we didn't think she was going to make it to the hospital in the ambulance. She was full up of fluid. She couldn't even finish the chemical stress test yesterday, couldn't breathe, was so full of fluid. I spent Tuesday night/Wed morning with her till 4 am and yesterday left work at 2 pm as I got called, they were transferring her to cardiac ICU. I was with her most of the night last night but did go to work today. Her doc thinks she's got at least one if not a few blockages. Talked to the ICU nurse this morning on the phone and she said she's better, was able to finish the test, just barely but was able to get thru it. I'm going back there tonight. My brothers did drive down here to So. IL from Chicago but she needs some prayers. I'm worried she doesn't have the strength to get thru surgery if they can't take care of it through stents or angioplasty. Any little prayers for her would be appreciated.
The kids are doing great through this, my cousins are coming thru and taking over for me as I run back and forth from work to home to hospital. I'm lucky, I have a great family to back me up, close and extended.
Thank you for letting me ramble.

Lislynn, I am keeping your mom in prayer for strength and a speedy recovery--and for your whole family as you do whatever traveling you need to do to visit her

Lisa, prayers sent your way right now. For you and your Mom. My Mom had quadruple bypass two years ago. So I can understand how you are feeling. God Bless.
MrsManiac, thank you for the info on the blueberries. It was I that asked. DD is so excited. She gets her bushes. And will pay more for the thornless ones. Thanks again.

sour milk coffee cake
This coffee cake recipe has been in my family for generations. We always looked forward to soured milk LOL.
4 c Flour
2 c Sugar
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 c shortening
Mix reserving 1/2 c for topping
Blend in 2 c sour milk, 1 t baking soda, 1 t salt to dry mixture. Pour into greased & floured pans, pour 1/2 c melted butter on batter top with reserved topping with 1/2 c brown sugar, sprinkle with cinnamin. Bake 350 for 35 minutes.

Happy St. Patricks Day Everyone!!!
Been up cooking for St. Paddy's day. We take it very seriously around here with Dd being Half Irish, so we make a traditional Irish breakfast and lunch, if I'm home, and dinner. I made an Irish breakfast for dd and we had just a regular lunch and I'm now cooking everything down and I'm about to make the Soda bread. What's funny is that I'm actually making two separate meals because I'm low carb. I can eat the corned beef and cabbage-( I make it Dublin style usually with Guiness but this year its just low carb beer), I made colcannon for dd-(mashed potatoes with kale mixed in), and I'm cooking down kale for me. And the soda bread is for dd only, we'll freeze the rest for when she wants it. Then I'm gonna crash on the couch. I only have 3 more days in my vacation- I have to drop off a lawnmower to a freecycler tomorrow and try to rest up the rest of the time before I go back. I'm just now starting to relax a little...geesh.

Lisa,
Saying a prayer for a quick recovery for your mom. So glad to hear you have family around to help you out.
Thanks everyone for the advice. Anna I have printed out your essay. I put a call in to the doctor and he actually called me back within the hour. I voiced my concerns with his staff, he was very apolgetic (of course he would be) he actually requested that I please send him a letter regarding our conversation. I guess so that he can put in her file. I am still going to search for a new office, however I lost my courage to tell him that....
Oh joy by the way my day has only gone downhill. Evan complained his stomach hurt within 10 minutes he was vomiting and now Josh has diarrea. SO while I had the dr. on the phone I asked what he suggested. Said there are 2 different viruses running rampant in our area, sounds like both are mild since they only have 1 of each problem (so far that is) so putting them on the Brat diet minus the apples! Also one of the daycare kids is sick out of both ends...His mom has picked him up, but left the "well" one here. Babysitting has its ups and downs. Called the other parent they said okay see you at 5:30, and the other one left at noon. Yikes what a day, I sure hope everyone is better by Monday! The best part of today is they are all asleep!
Were not doing anything special for St. Patricks day, but Sunday were supposed to be going to my grandmas for Corned Beef and Cabbage. IF everyone is better by than that is.

With 1 1/2 gallons of sour milk you will be making a ton of coffee cake, LOL, but the coffee cake does freeze well.

Well, I don't think I'd use ALL the milk up that way (especially since I don't have that much flour!) but I do have to bake a cake for our bake sale Sunday
What size pan do you use?
