Good morning all!!

Mom 2-4, you will know for sure if what you are feeling is a sinus infection if the drip has a distinctive taste, and the color of the mucus turns from clear to yellow to green. Sometimes it will even go into your ear(s). Really makes you feel yukky. Get to a doctor quickly and get those antibiotics, even if they try to tell you it is a virus. And drink lots of hot liquids, tea, hot lemonade, chicken broth. I drink hot Tang, also. Doesn't taste the same as cold Tang, and no powdery after taste. And remember, you are allowed to feel yukky, and take time for yourself!!

Frugal for me today will be taking lunch and eating left overs for dinner. I had bought a big "bowl" of pre-cut yellow squash that actually weighed more than the pre-packaged bag of uncut yellow squash at BJs, for the same price. I love this veggie, steamed with sweet onions. I also like them together panfried on a sandwich roll with some cheese.

But I will have the squash, steamed and some leftover green beans from Sunday, and some of the KFC chicken that I got at a good price.

Anna, did you ever check your resources about the terrorist threats to the casinos? The Coast Guard was buzzing the coastline yesterday, again. I don't think they werelooking for stranded mammals. Maybe just some exercises though.

Well ladies, better go for now. I managed to finish a hat last night, and want to get another started so I dont' lose my motivation.

Another couple of months and it will be time to start the Christmas stockings. And I want to add a Christmas tree skirt to my list of patterns this year. so I have to start creating a pattern. I am not sure if I want to do a traditional 4-sided granny, or a 6-sided hexy granny. Too much for me to think about right now.

Take care all!! Norma

Good morning, ladies! I have been sticking to my New Years resolution of living more frugally fairly well! I've been bringing my lunch to work almost every day and have been using my lunch hours to run errands since I'm already in town. I've also let a couple of magazine subscriptions lapse--I work next door to the library, so I can spend a lunch hour there anytime and still read my favorites! Plus, I'm a book fiend, so using the library is something I do a lot of anyway.
I've also been keeping my thermostat turned down and put plastic on my worst drafty window.
Seems like my dryer is not working very efficiently lately. I've used a drying rack to dry some things, but sometimes time is of the essence and the dryer is a necessity. Someone mentioned something to me about cleaning ducts behind the dryer to keep it running more smoothly--I have to admit, I know nothing about this. Any advice on that?
Hope everybody is having a good Wednesday! It's in the 30s and sunny today here in Illinois--now snow!!

Good Morning Ladies!

Hey, what are your favorite frugal newsletters that you get? I get one really good one, but can't think of the name of it. I'll post the name the next time I get one.

I need to go pick up my prescription samples from the dr today. Boy does that save me money every month. I have a great dr.

Well, gotta go wake up the troops!

Anna, we're suppost to get more snow this week. The ski resorts are loving this weather!

Chris, to clean the dryer duct (the hose-like thing that leads from your dryer to outside) just unscrew the brackets that hold the duct to the dryer and the outside opening--it's easy to do-- and bang the end a few times, inside a trash bag, on the ground. The lint will fall into the bag and you can trash it or keep it if you use lint for paper crafts. It's a good idea to do periodically to lower the risk of dryer fires.

Well the kids both have virus's. So there is nothing that can be done.
Songberries, I get dollar stretchers newsletter. It is okay. That is the only one I get.

Staying home and getting things done.

We are going to deep fry a turkey tomorrow. This is the first time we have had it cooked that way. We got the turkey fryer as a house warming gift. So that was frugal, as now I don't have to buy one. Has any one else cooked a turkey that way? Any hints?

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Good morning! Carol, I get the dollar stretcher, frugal friends, thrifty fun, and counting the cost. Thrifty fun is good, but takes a looong time to read. Counting the cost is my very favorite one.
Chris, good job on taking your lunch to work. That should save you bunches.
Frugal here is turning off the heat for a few days until it starts getting cooler again. No need to have it clicking on and off when the weather is warm. I am making black bean and wild rice soup today for supper. It is really cheap and should last for a few meals until I go shopping. Other than that, I'm just staying in and doing some things around the house. Take care.

What did I do frugal today?

I used super glue to re-attach the rubber sole on a pair of two year old sneakers!

Well, Hi, daughter-of-breezy! Nice to "meet" you. That was a very frugal thing. Shoes are so expensive!

Thanks, Barbszy, for the info on the dryer vent. I will do that tonight when I get home from work. I knew something was up when the dryer was taking so long to get things dry! I think I'm going to have to become a bit more mechanically inclined. I'm learning! Thank you again!

daughter of breezy

Welcome Aboard, so glad you found us. Good job on making those shoes last a little longer.

Yes, I did finally catch up with Vic and he said he hadn't heard anything about it. I haven't talked to him since I ask so hopefully he is paying closer attention. I told him you worked for a law office and he said there were a bunch of those along a certain strip. He said he rarely goes to the casinos, last time he went they went to see Cher and left after her performance.

Glad to hear you had a good time at the circus, they are so much fun especially all the junk food

Well we had a little excitement this morning. Dh went out to warm up the truck and I was just getting out of the shower when I heard him yell "Oh my God"!!! I said what's wrong? My little daschund/beagle got up on our table and started eating our income tax check Thank goodness he caught her before she totally destroyed it, only one small toothmark on the check. It was in it's envelope he had laid it there to take out on his second trip to the truck. Don't know what possessed her to do something like that, he said she almost won a trip to the doggie shelter (NO WAY!). but that would definitely have been a challenge trying to explain to the Feds why we needed it replaced and proving we sent it back, what a nightmare!

Oh well off to look at some old crochet books I found this weekend.
