I am Puerto Rican, white, black and Indian and my daughter is half Irish w/ a little Scottish.

Leasmom, that is still extremely high for electric baseboard heat!

I loved our electric baseboard heat, that is what we had at our old place. At night I would turn the heat downstairs to about 65*. And a about 68*. During the day I would set all the upstairs ones to about 45*(of course they never kicked on), and the downstairs ones would stay at 65*, and I would use a little plug in forced air heater. It stayed nice. Our electric bill ran the same there for a two story three bedroom base board heated home, as what it does here for a one story trailer, with kerosene heat. I guess our furnace is not very efficient!!

Frugal for me not much went to Goodwill. I didn't really get any good deals. DH, did get an electronic dartboard for $15. Some t-shirts for youngest DD for summer for 33 cents a piece. I got a sweater for 50 cents, and DD#2 got a new outfit for church. We also got some Discovery toys for under $2.

DH dropped DD#2 off at the Rec, and youngest DD and I will be going in a little bit for a little. Although I am disappointed because the Hot tub is out of order.

ldyroper, if I lived closer to you I would be there with bells on to buy your trailer. How much is the rent for the 40 acres? Even though the trailer is a single wide and mine is a double wide it would be the same square foot living space for us. And it would all be worth it to be on 40 acres that I could do whatever with!!?? Good luck saling it!

Took my MIL & kids to the Kwanis pancake breakfast this morning since the guys were at a Masonic event. Ending up eating for free since a classmate from HS had some extra tickets that they weren't using.

Did laundry and ran the vacuum today. Might go to a bean supper tonight with the inlaws not sure yet.

wow..everyones getting lots done today. leasmom, i agree your elect is high. maybe a new place would be better. but that bil is outragous. we spend alot on our elect..about 150 a month..but i keep it about 70 durring the day, and around 65 at night. then i also pay the propane bill thats an extra 100 a month..but i only have to have 4 tanks a year.

other than that..i wont be on as much. my dsl is off for a while. and im on moms computer now trying to catch up on things. ill be able to check in and read some, but i dont think ill post for about 3 weeks or so; but ill be learking and reading some.

As for me, I had frugal plans today for doing some things to increase my car's gas mileage...then it was cold and crummy out, so I didn't get any of that done! Hopefully tomorrow. But, I did stay home today and didn't spend anything at all. Also did some cooking that will give me some interesting things to take for lunch to work this week, so I guess that was frugal.

Yesterday we celebrated a co-workers birthday at work--I made her a cake from scratch to avoid having to buy a cake mix and frosting (I had all of the ingredients already in my cupboards) , so I guess that was frugal too.

Well, I guess it is off to bed for me for the night. Plan to do a little bit of reading before going off to sleep (oh, and it's a library book, so that too is frugal!)

We got away with only dinner out and not all the meals that dd's wanted. Library was closed after dinner so we couldn't get our movies there so we stopped at the neighborhood movie store. Dd1 "had" to see Napoleon Dynamite. Her friends all said it was great. HAH what a joke. Don't waste your $-worst movie I ever saw.

Leasmom, your picture is beautiful. Your neighbors sound horrid. What comes around goes around I say.

Frugal today was getting milk at Meijer's tonight before it goes off sale. Also picked up gift bags for .25 and tissue paper for .35 as they had Super Saturday, get half off any clearance in the gift card section.

Not as frugal but fun was eating at Mr. Gatti's. DS crossed over from Cub Scout to Boy Scout. Afterwards a lot of us got together at Mr. Gatti's. The kids (and some big kids) got to play while some of us got to have a nice conversation.

Good Morning Everyone

I bought a fancy espresso (sp?) coffee yesterday called a Hard Driver I think?

Anyways, it was a shot of espresso, a cup of foamy milk, caramel syrup and whipped topping. Cost $3.25 for 8 oz.

I went to Gordon Food Service and bought:

Italia D'Oro brand caramel syrup 32 ounces (they also had Irish Creme, Raspberry and Hazelnut flavors) for $4.95. And bought a industrial size Whipped Cream for $1.79. I used a coffee cup of french roast coffee (just regular brand) and mixed 2 tbs. of the syrup, 2 tbs. of coffee cream and bingo: Taste exactly the same as the Hard Driver!

Ldyroper, hope your trailer sells soon!
Yesterday we had a meeting about 3 hours away, so gaswise that wasn't very frugal. We did bring our own drinks and snacks from home. On the way back, we ate out but just got soup and salad, so it wasn't too costly for that. Frugal today is making dh more oatmeal mix to take to work. I need to go online and see what the sales are for this week. Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Yesterday started out frugal with our free passes to the car show. It went downhill from there:

Parking $7.00
Lunch $14.00

After the event we spent 5 hours there trying out cars, we came home and went grocery shopping after which we were too tired to fix dinner, so we went out to a chineese buffet another $14.00. so our free trip ended up costing us $35.00 but we had fun and ate good stuff.

We had chicken gyros for lunch, along with salad and fries. YUM.

My arms are really sore today from pulling myself in and out of so many trucks and vans. I sat in a couple of Jaguars, Mercedes, Mustang, the new GTO, a Hummer, the Cadillac Escalade, and of course all the trucks from Nissan to Dodge. They had a Rolls Royce there (had it blocked off so no one could get in it) it was $350,000.00

Unbelievable and it was sold.

Our favorite was the Cadillac Escalade and it wasn't really too unreasonably priced.

Well I'm off to get dressed and head to the thrift store... I am out of books.

Oh Futureteacher... good job on making the cake from scratch! They really aren't that hard are they (smiles).

Good job on the gift bags, wish I'd seen that yesterday when I was there. They did have my cotton thread yarn on sale for $1.00 so I bought 12 of them and also finally broke down and bought a skein of that fun fur, it was on sale for $3.50. I'm going to make a hat I think (black) and use the fun fur (white) around the rim. I think it'll look nice. I have been working on stocking up for the craft shows this fall.

I also got a order Friday for one of my scarfs so I'll be working on that this afternoon.
