Potatoes---- warning about potato "fruits"

Did you know that potatoes are related to tomatoes? Both are members of the Nightshade family. Sometimes a potato plant will look like it has green cherry tomatoes on them. These "potato fruits" are toxic. They are high in solanine which is a substance that is toxic to humans. They should not be eaten raw or cooked no matter how much they look like green cherry tomatoes..

This information came from the Purdue Extension Consumer Horticulture Department

“The value of doing something does not lie in the ease or difficulty, the probability or improbability of its achievement, but in the vision, the plan, the determination and the perseverance, the effort and the struggle which go into the project. Life is enriched by aspiration and effort, rather than by acquisition and accumulation.”
