Know the environment in which you plan to camp at:
Type of camping equipment allowed at site (i.e. Camper, trailer, tent, sport vehicle, B-B-Q, port-a-potty, etc), and dump sites.
Type of insects / bugs / animals known to inhabit the area - type of insect repellent(s) allowed (i.e. Citronella vs chemical sparys)
Type of plants you could encounter - some people have sensitivities to certain plants and trees.
What the weather conditions can be for the time of year.
Whether the locals except cash, credit, or both (emergency towing, hotel/motel/ hospital, etc).
What to do encase of a NATURAL Disaster (flood, fire, mudslide, eruption, etc) - EMERGENCY Exit Route(s)
Paper Maps for places GPS doesn't work - yes folks as good as GPS is, there are still some areas where they don't always have a satellite connection (Tall city buildings, some bridges, some water ways, some hill /mountain areas, and cloudy days).
