I'd love to meet you!!

Here's what we are thinking as of right now....

We are going to fly to Atlanta and use their city pass to take some tours - that will be fly in on Mon. morning and leave late Wed. morning and then we are thinking of renting a car (if I can arrange a way not to get killed on the prices) to drive to the beach for Wed-Fri and then drive home.

If we can't swing the price of a rental car, we will fly home on Wed morning and then rent a car here to drive to the beach.

We fly for free because my dh works for US Airways so we will save $$$ on flying plus it's only 1 1/2 hrs for the flight. We want to do this because it will be my kids' first flight. I'm seeing that most places charge a return fee of $100 or more for a rental car now if you drive it out of state and drop it off - no way am I doing this.

So...I'm still looking for tips on where to stay at the beach - a hotel or bungalow or ??? And of course I'll take tips on everything else, too. lol!! This doesn't have to be a busy beach vacation. I think my kids will be happy just to go to the beach and after the busy days in Atlanta, it will be nice to slow down and relax.

The new dates we are mulling around now is around June 18 - 22.

Has anyone vacationed in downtown Atlanta and used their city passes? We are planning on walking/using city transportation for those two days. I know that CNN, the Aquarium, the Coke Plant and the Natural History Museum are all within walking distance - with the zoo being about 3-4 miles away. Now to find a decent but not expensive place to stay.

Would it be worth it for me to sign up for AAA for traveling? Are their discounts worth it? My dh gets some discounts on hotels and car rentals but we're talking only 10% most of the time, if that.
