Successful candle recycle!

My thanks to everyone in this thread for their terrific cancle recycling tips and hints ~ I tried several of them, and they all worked!

My very favorite was using the birthday candle (once again) and melting the wax to refill the candle holder.

I did not have a frying pan to donate to this project so used a heavy older deep pan with about 3" or more of water (brought to a boil). I then used a large empty coffee tin can for the wax and within just a couple of minutes, the wax from three or four candle stubs was melted. By combining all the wax at once to melt, I had a uniform color (first attempt had several different colors as I melted and poured different candle colors, but hey ~ this one is kind of neat with all the different colored layers, too!) I did find the color didn't matter so much when contemplating which waxes to melt together as the scents ~ by mixing compatable or complementing scents, I have new candles with gorgeous aromas! (I mixed vanilla with cranberry, and vanilla and raspberry).

Now, I am on the hunt for some pretty saucers and cups to try the next candle hint!

Thanks again to everyone for their suggestions.

Sandie

The birthday candle idea is too cool!!!

I've always saved my candles and put a votive candle down inside the cake candles. This gives you the shadowing thru the shell that was left when the candle burnt down. I also shave the old used candle into chunks and pack the candle wax pieces around a taper candle using a glass jar from a burnt candle.

But never did I think to use a birthday candle! Thanks!
