Tearing off diapers

My daughter did the exact same thing when she was 2. It didn't have anything to do with potty training -- she didn't get out of diapers until 3-1/2. It also had little or nothing to do with wetness irritation, because she did it with dry diapers, too. She just loved being able to take off her own diaper all by herself, a little independence-expression. I tried putting the diapers on backwards, but she figured that out in about a minute. I finally duct-taped them over the tabs, and put them on tight enough that she couldn't pull them down. It worked for her. They really are little escape artists, aren't they? I'll bet your little boy is having the time of his life picking apart those diapers! Thankfully, my daughter didn't pick them apart, but she always wet the floor before I found the duct tape.

Old-fashioned cotton training pants over the disposable diaper, fastened taught with a diaper pin!

I can't help but think cloth diapers and rubber pants (with pins) in my house played an important role in my kids leaving their diapers alone.
