In addition to everything mentioned thus far, we also had Lawn Darts, a Bocce set, and a Crochet set, and throughout the warmer months of the year we cycled between each and every one of them almost on a daily basis!

Additionally... catchers gloves for the boys (which my girls occasionally involved themselves with) and a Frisbee! There's no telling how many revolutions our old Frisbee made! And yes, we still have it to this day!

One thing I remember as a kid was playing kick-the-can, spin-the-bottle, and hide-&-seek! Of course we had many of the things available to us such as Frisbees and catchers gloves back in the day, but we found fun and entertainment in many of the old-fashioned games that were popular back then!

And, as with all things old-fashioned, 99.99% of everything we did was free of charge!

Anyone remember kids with big huge black inner tubes at the beach? Those who arrived at the beach with tubes were the envy of all! Those big ole tubes trumped everything in the way of water toys and things!!!

Who remembers gas-powered airplanes and cars as kids? Seemed every boy had one to his name. I still remember the sound those things made and the unique smell of the gas they used.

Did anyone involve their children with RC (Radio Controlled) planes/cars? I see more of it today than I did when I was growing up, but I'm sure cost pushes many away.

Don't want to get too overly sidetracked here, but anyone else lucky enough (as a kid) to play in a hayloft?

When my siblings and I were young we rode our bikes, or walked all over town for hours. You are correct those things were free.

When I raised my own children I had a hard time getting them to walk places, or get out of the house. As teens they always wanted rides. We live in different times, different cultures I guess.

As children we would spend our summers delivering newspapers, playing Monopoly, cars, and kickball. As a girl I also enjoyed spending my money on stamps and marbles since those things were inexpensive.

And don't forget about the free activity of collecting tadpoles in jars of water. LOL!

Yes... by bike or by foot, that's how we got around, too, seldom a ride anywhere, and yes to delivering newspapers! I never had a delivery job but often went with friends who did. We'd have a ball folding up the papers into a tightly folded wad, then tossing them onto the decks and porches of subscribers, and we always had to get an early start, before most people were up and around. Great memories!

As kids we also had bee-collectors (sad things they were thinking back on it now).
