I think that is a great place to start. And putting the baby gate up is a good point for keeping you worry free, unless of course he can climb over that, but you would probably hear him before he got too far. Good luck and I'm sure it will all work out great.

When my toddler turned 2...same month of his birthday, we bought him a toddler bed, because he was climbing out of his crib...

So after a few weeks of trying to get him to sleep on the toddler bed, we opted for a twin size bed with built in rails....We put racecar bedding, pillows, etc on maybe get his attention for him to be comfy in his 'big boy bed' ....

He has been either staying up late, even with being put back to bed constantly, or sneaking into the parents room at night...then resorting to sneaking into his 'big sister's' bed....
He will not sleep alone...the only way he will absolutely sleep in his bed is if we lay down with him in his bed at night until he falls asleep ....then WE HAVE TO 'sneak' out of his room.....and that process could take anywhere from 20 mins to 3 hours.....
We have tried the nightly routines, bed time stories, baths, and playing until he's tired...nothing seems to work..There seems to be no more 'me time' anymore....from day to night, its' toddler terror in our home....hahahhaha

Any suggestions on how to get back on track? (routine) He used to sleep like clockwork every night when he was in his crib.....

What is a friend? I'll tell you...It is a person with whom you DARE TO BE YOURSELF....
Do not follow where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path...and leave a trail.....

I moved my son to a full size bed at 2 1/2. He had no problems. We had gotten a toddler bed and he would not even go near it. I would skip the toddler bed an go straight to the twin or full bed. My 1 tip would be not even to put the crib up at your new house and just put the new bed. Good Luck

I had great success with transferring the crib mattress from the crib to the floor. Did it with each of my children.
