LOL, Cat Lover! I used to pack a small plastic baby potty in the car with us while out. Not ideal, but for little ones like your grandson who aren't comfortable with making a call on the big telephone yet, the little portable potty is the answer.

I' m not sure that will work with him; he really wants privacy when he goes. Sometimes he wants us right there, but most of the time we have to step right outside the door. Don't think in a parking lot he'd use it, lol! Just totally puzzled right now on what to do. My boys weren't this young at potty training.

How about finding a quiet private spot for you GS to go, but still trying the baby potty idea? Somewhere out of the way where he feels comfortable.

Myself, I have never in my day dealt with a trainer as young as your GS, not even back in my babysitting days when kids were often trained early.

Too, I was thinking you could mimic and pretend to use the little potty by telling him, grandma is going to take the potty behind the car and go, and then it's your turn. The psychology aspect of that in itself might be enough for your GS to accept going in a not so ordinary place.

How old were your kids when they graduated out of diapers, CL?
