There are several things I do when storing away seasonal clothes. First I go through my own clothes and get rid of anything I haven't worn all season and give it to Goodwill. I also weed out any stained clothes I know I won't wear. I then go through my children's clothes and give away anything out grown or that I know will not fit next summer to someone who can use them. One trick I use is to store all my seasonal clothes in large (new) garbage bins with the locking covers. I put all the clothes in large garbage bags and the bags in the trashcans and then lock the covers. This keeps the clothes clean and dry and would work especially well if our basement ever got actual water in it as the cans are so tall. You can label each can as to its contents so you know what clothes or whose clothes are in them. I started this a few years ago and it works great, especially since our house has no closets or storage space.

Oh, one more thing I also do, I always save out a couple summer t shirts and a pair of shorts or capris incase we get an Indian summer and a few extra warm days in early spring before true summer arrives which saves having to look for something to wear in storage.

I haven't gotten a thing done! I really need too since the highs have been in the 50s and I have one long sleeved shirt out.
Don't stay were you are tolerated, go where you are celebrated!

Here in Louisiana it is the same way, back and forth. You never know what to wear. Even if it is cold in the morning it will be hot in the afternoon. We have had such warm winters you don't even need much more than a windbreaker anymore. Years ago we had very cold winters. Not anymore.

I've just packed our winter things away and brought all our shorts out. I'm cleaning up our fans ready for use to.
