chuckle Fugal Favorites!

My most fugal thing to do is finding the cheapest cleaning supplies or making my own with rubbing alcohol and water or ammonia and water. These work great! The water and alcohol don't streak windows and mirrors. I don't know why, but I really get a kick out of buying supplies for the house.
Something else I do for my one year old's clothes is buy them at local consignment stores. You may only pay a couple of dollars for something really cute or may possibly be brand name! It's really worth it when they wear them for such a short time. I do look for spots and such, and if they have them, I put them back!

I like to make cloth giftbags out of remenant fabric from the fabric store on clearance or fabric that people have given me. If people give me the fabric I usually give them one or two of the bags. I also like to make the bags out of the pant legs of jeans or BDU's from our military hero's.

Great idea, Ziggee! Do you have a pattern for those?

Why not visit us over at "What did you do frugal today?" There are a lot of folks here at FC who share ideas about little and big ways that we save money.

All I do is fold the fabric to the size I want and then cut. I handsew the bags so they take me longer to make, but I love to make them.

Another frugal thing I like to do is to sew lace on my childs skirts, shorts or jeans to lengthen them. A lot of my childs clothes fit in the waist but then get short in length that is why I like to sew on the lace. It also makes the clothes look fresh and gives them a different look, without having to buy new clothes.

If my child gets a stain on an item of clothing I will get out my paints, stencils or fabric paints or patches and cover up the stain. This also makes the item look fresh and unique.

I shop for clothing at Goodwill. I have gotten some amazing deal there. And when I need toys for my daycare I check out yard sales. I also check out clearance racks in stores.
