There is something I *want* to stop buying, and that is printer ink cartridges. I got a refill kit from eBay and my printer refuses to print those cartridges, only takes new cartridges. Doesn't have to be genuine Lexmark brand, but it won't take refills. I talked to a guy who works at Lexmark and he said the newer printers, there is a sensor that can determine if the top has been removed, it will not work even if you glue it back down firmly.

re the printer - I would just buy another one. Actually, I did. I upgraded my computer and the printer could not be added - I contacted Lexmark and they told me that they had no plans to update their software in order to allow this printer to be installed with new machines. So be it. I went out and bought a Hewlett packard which I am happy with. There was nothing wrong with the Lexmark etc. so I would have been happy to keep it. Oh well.
Since I started buying Watkins salsa spice, I refuse to buy purhcased salsa! You just buy the inexpensive diced canned tomatoes - when tomatoes are not in season (with herbs and spices) about 90 cents per can and add some chopped onion, a little sugar, oil, garlic and cilantro if you have it and you have a very nice spicy dip.

TeresaR I am very interested in where you found out how to make your own makeup/beauty products and cleaning solutions. I HATE buying makeup and all of that frilly girly stuff however I dearly love it but my checkbook doesn't. It is so expensive, so any solutions you could give me would be GREAT!!

Thanks in advance!

I just got a gREAT book from the public library called Natural Beaty at Home by Janice Cox - it has lots of regular recipes for homemade products that are as good as anything you would buy and you have the option of adding fragrences (or not) to whatever you make - I think you will enjoy the book!

I have liked the foil in the dryer trick so much (CAFE shared the idea with us) that I now refuse to buy fabric softener!

Jayne, glad you liked the foil idea. I did too. I picked up another tip along the way. I bought 2 tennis balls and they are in my dryer now with the foil. Your clothes dry faster. I have noticed it especially in my Jean loads and the Towel loads. We need to keep passing these tips on, so we can save money to spend someplace else. LOL ;-) Cafe

Cafe, I have read that tip before and now that you've confirmed it I'll give it a try. My towels always take ages to dry!

Thanks!

what do i refuse to buy?

my big thing is popcorn and soda at the movies. i refuse to buy theatre concessions and my kids think i am the biggest cheapskate on earth. why pay $3 or more for popcorn that costs 20 cents? i either pop some at home and put it in baggies in my big purse to take or i get them skittles at the dollar store to eat and take those.
